How To Get Rid Of Bad Business Habits And How To Obtain Healthy Habits

I was wondering with so much information we get today via every source of media how to become a better person or a better business owner why we were not getting the life we deserve? What is the foundation of our law of success? How can we describe the top ways to create wealth?

We know in our heart we must change. But do we really take action? We are a little bit hazy on finer details due to the confusing messages sent by the business marketers/ business owners. We know we must learn skills, do research, do something every day. It is like we know in order to be healthy we must eat right and do daily exercise. What is our exercise in current business activities? Do we have one? How should we develop it?

We know why we want to be law of successful. We want to be like that those guys who wear expensive clothing, drive BMWs and Hummers, we want to fly first class instead of feeling like "tuna in a can" in our seats. We want to feel that positive energy, inner happiness. We want to feel like kids who have no mind programming, no boundaries to what they can do. Have you heard a child saying to mommy, " I want to be a movie star" I want to be a banker" I want to be a doctor" Kids already visualize so early because they have no limits to what they believe. We want to feel good about ourselves. And we want to be attractive, happy, fun-loving, life-loving people...

The missing links is how and show me the way:

Some days we all lose focus on what we do, and we forget we must have will power. We get distracted by phone calls, chatting on instant messenger or just simple daily errands. We get started and get all excited but then.... we are fried. We lose desire, drive to do anything. Every obstacle that has been created by the mankind is there in front of us. We become self-destructive. We create those obstacles. Nobody does. Our sponsor does not create obstacles. The company does not create them. All obstacles are inner obstacles. I read somewhere and it gives a good analogy to human behavior

"A fly in a pitcher plant is, at the beginning eating the plant. At some imperceptible point, the plant is eating the fly."

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit." - Aristotle

What we repeatedly do, defines us. Imagine your dream life and then think of your life now. The difference largely amounts to "doing and taking action." In your dream life, you'd be doing something different than you're doing now.

Our habits can be constructive and destructive. One thing every habit has in common is where it comes from: from inside. Do you remember a movie about ground hog day? they have no structure, no sense of purpose and no desire to change life. Their routine is boring and that is what can happen to us. We become satisfied with our cozy thoughts and we find excuse after excuse

But how do we get from point of being self destructive to being constructive?

We have to have three important attitudes or attributes

1. We must be committed We must have the right mindset and believe in ourselves not someone else

2. Commitment will bring clarity. We must be clear all disbeliefs. We must clear the path to law of success by eliminated dirt, mud and weeds growing on the way.

3. We must be consistent. It will teach us to overcome fears. Fear is the biggest doubt people have.

I think in order to feel great about ourselves we must control our habits, set attainable goals, and stay focused.

One more thing...do not forget to be yourself.

We all have bad habits but we need to learn how to get up after falling and take it the way it is and move on...

What Is The Meaning Of Life
What Is The Meaning Of Life

Connotation And Denotation: What They Are And How To Make Use Of Them In Your Poetry

Mom, you wont believe how cheap this outfit was! I declare as I wave the Bells Outlet bag like a victory banner.

My mother cringes, Inexpensive, not cheap, please.

When writing anything, word choice is a key component. Because of its compact nature, it is even more so with poetry. How the word sounds in relation to the words around it, the point you are trying to make to your reader, and the use of imagery are a few of the reasons why this is so. You can use both denotation and connotation to help you make affective word choices.

Lets start with the easy one: Denotation. Denotation is simply the dictionary meaning of a word. Both the word inexpensive and the word cheap mean not spending much money. However, they have differing connotations. But, lets get back to denotation for a moment before we tackle connotation.

Because the world has access to most written works, it isnt easy to be sure that the word you are using is how you meant it to be taken by your reader. To keep misunderstanding down, check words you arent absolutely sure of in your dictionary you have one of those beside you, right?

No? *gasp*

Well, youre in luck; you can find many free dictionaries online, too.

Connotation is trickier. Not what it is. Thats the easy part. Its is the implied meaning of a word. Its when you see a word and think of its dictionary meaning and start thinking about other meanings or feelings the word may trigger in your mind.

The hard part is using it. Again, the difficulty is taking into account that different regions, countries, and even decades may have different disguised meanings of words. To make the most of it you must consider your audience. Since you can never have everyone understand the implied meaning of each word you write, aim for the majority. If your audience is the teen crowd, and if most of them would understand your implied meaning, then consider it a good word choice. If parents are your audience, then consider if they would understand the hidden meaning of your chosen word.

Lets look at a couple of examples:

My favorites, and probably the easiest to see the connotation of, are colors. In America the color yellow has a connotation of fear, while the color red connotes anger, heat, blood and more. Can you think of some more color examples or does your region have different connotations for these colors? Try to use them to add extra meaning to your poetry.

Done well, connotations can aid in the imagery and add a wonderful depth to your poetry as well as your other written works.

Breaking Habits With The Law of Attraction

You can not walk into a bookstore or the book section of any store today and not find at least one book about the Law of Attraction and how to use it to improve your life. The Law of Attraction has been around longer then any of us currently on this Earth. The philosophy has been used by ancient societies as well as those of today to create the lifestyle that is desired by any individual.

The Law of Attraction is about you being in control of your life. It enforces the fact that your life and the circumstances in your life are there because of you. The philosophy behind the law of attraction is fairly simple; you get what you put out there. The universe gives you what you want. It is really a matter of how you think about it. As an example, instead of thinking and saying "I want to be out of debt" all the universe hears is that you want debt. The same principal then can be applied to your bad habit. You only have that bad habit because you want to. Lets be honest right now and say that if you truly wanted to break that bad habit you could.

When it all boils down to why you have a bad habit, it is because you believe that you can not control it. So the universe hears you and makes it so that you continue to have the bad habit and it seems harder for you to control. To use the Law of Attraction then you have to change the way that you think. Identify the bad habit that you want to break or change. Now, stop thinking about it as a bad habit. It is simply a habit that you have that you would like to change.

That is right, it is a habit that you have. You have control over this habit. It isnt bad or good it just is and it needs to be different. You are going to be very aware of your thoughts from here on out. I will tell you this is the most difficult part of using the law of attraction. You really need to pay attention to the way you thinking. You need to think that you have control, you need to be thinking that this is just a habit that needs to change and you need to visualize yourself without the habit. You have to live your life as if you do not have the habit.

Be grateful to the universe for all that you have. Be aware of your thoughts and only think positive thoughts. Do not think that I will not have this bad habit anymore. Think that "I am strong and in control of all my thoughts and actions." If this is what you think, this is what the universe delivers. Remember that the universe does not hear the negative in any thought, all it hears is that you want something. Whether it is money, weight loss, love, success and so on, you must live as if you already have those things and they will come to you.

Improving Your Sales Force

Are you hiring top performers, or does your sales force fall into the 80/20 rule? You know the rule. It says that 80 percent of a companys sales comes from 20 percent of its sales force. Theres little doubt that top performers outsell poor producers. The question is, by how much?

Evidence shows a top producer will generate five to six times the sales of a bottom producer. In a recent study of more than 100 businesses of various sizes and types, for example, the top producer outsold the same companys bottom producer by an average of 5.7 to 1.(And to think the bottom producer still held his or her job!) Actually, the study revealed a 3:1 to 9:1 range. But do the math using the lowly 3:1 differential as in the chart below, and you'll quickly realize how important successful salespeople are to any business. And now think of businesses with only one or two salespeople. It's even more critical that these positions be filled with top producers.

Effects of top producers #1 produces $750,000 - #1 produces $750,000 #2 produces $525,000 - #2 produces $525,000 #3 produces $330,000 - #3 produces $330,000 #4 produces $275,000 - #4 produces $275,000 #5 produces $250,000 #5 produces $750,000 Total Sales = $2,130,000 Total Sales = $2,630,000 An extra $500,000!

Whopping 75 percent of sales job candidates are unsuitable. Looking at the above table, wouldn't we all like to have a sales force made up only of top producers? Unfortunately, few companies, if any, do. Worse, for many, three out of four sales hires fail to work out at all. A new salesperson has only a 25 percent chance of seeing his first anniversary on the job. Of those who stay, only one in 10 becomes a true top producer within three years. Sales managers tell many horror stories about costs related to unsuitable salespeople:

  • Connecting the salesperson with a potential buyer only to lose the opportunity.
  • Overcoming negative word of mouth.
  • Paying a person who just "takes up space."
  • Training costs.
Unfortunately there are more, of course. Why poor sales performance? Many factors contribute to poor sales performance, but traditional hiring methods and beliefs are at the root of the problem for most businesses. For example, many hiring managers believe that "if you can sell, you can sell anything." Truth is, research clearly indicates this is not the case. Reporting on such research in their book, "How to Hire and Develop Your Next Top Performer," Herb Greenberg, Harold Weinstein and Patrick Sweeney conclude that:
  • More than half of those working in sales should not be in sales at all because they lack the basic characteristics of good sales people.
  • Of the remaining 45 percent, half are selling the wrong thing in the wrong place for the wrong managers. This leaves about 20 percent to produce most sales.
Other managers think selling is easy, that anyone can do the job. Unfortunately, with this perception sales people are often seen, at best, as a necessary evil. And finally, some hiring managers misconceptions about sales people saddle them with inaccurate and undesirable characteristics. They think of sales people as:
  • Lazy
  • Lacking in intelligence
  • Opportunistic
  • Overpaid
  • Unethical
  • Pushy (uses high pressure sales tactics)
  • Backslappers and BSers
  • Interested only in money
All these misconceptions lead to mistake hires and consequently, poor performances. And they beg the questions: What characteristics do great salespeople share? What separates top producing salespeople from those languishing at the bottom? Characteristics of great salespeople Experts say that successful sales people share several characteristics:
  1. They are listeners, not talkers. Successful selling requires knowing a customers needs. Great salespeople encourage customers to talk about their needs. They then listen carefully so they can connect their products benefits to those needs.
  2. They possess a strong work ethic. Successful salespeople work hard and sales superstars know there is no substitute for this. They prospect more often, make more calls, talk to more people and make more sales presentations than their coworkers.
  3. They are exceptionally honest. Because many customers think a sales person is a backslapper, even unethical, they look for dishonesty in every sales situation. One whiff of it, and they dismiss the company and its products. Above all else, successful salespeople maintain their integrity.
  4. They are self-confident. Rejection is more common in sales than success. The best salespeople are able to set rejection aside and move on. They are persistent. They look for new solutions. They refuse to give up.
  5. They are enthusiastic and passionate. Always in a positive mood, super sellers choose to focus on the positive rather than drag themselves down with the negative. Whats more, they are genuinely excited about their company and about selling its products and services. Wow! You can see why recruiting an effective sales force is so challenging. Quite clearly, finding people with these characteristicsthose that will become your top performersrequires a lot of attention.
Tips: How to hire successful salespeople Here are a few tips to increase your chances of hiring top producers.
  1. Use hiring assessment tools to measure:

How candidates think, learn and act at work.

    What careers truly interest candidates.

Other characteristics critical to sales performance.

  2. Measure top performance job by job using assessments to determine what is top performance in your workplace and in this job.
  3. Hire for fit. The better your candidate matches measured dimensions, the more likely he or she will become a top performer.
  4. Build a pool of potential. Find top performers now; don't wait until you need another salesperson. Continuously improve your sales force by replacing bottom feeders with people who fit your good jobs .
The search for top performing salespeople is seldom simple. It requires a lot of attention. But just imagine what your business will be like if each of your salespeople performs as well as your current top performer. Better still, rather than imagine, take time to do the math and then follow the steps above. Before long, you should see your profits explode.

Sample Cover Letters ... The Hidden Pitfalls

You can benefit from sample cover letters as they can help you learn about the constructs of a high quality cover letter.

However, there are some dangers in doing this ...

If you have been sending out tons of resumes and cover letters and are not getting interviews you are probably wondering why. After all, you have the requisite education and work experience required in the job posting.

You are sending in both a resume and cover letter as requested, so why aren't you getting any calls for interviews?

The answer to this probably lies in the type of cover letter you are sending. A lot of job seekers believe it is quite acceptable to copy and paste a sample cover letter and insert their name.

There are certainly innumerable sites on the internet that can provide you with a cover letter example; however there are a few things you should consider before you simply cut and paste a sample letter and make it your own.

The Purpose of the Sample Cover Letter

The purpose of a successful cover letter is to make the employer want to know more about you, to feel the need to meet you in person and discuss the job opening, to get you an interview!

A sample cover letter is really only meant to provide you with the inspiration to create your own. A cut and pasted sample resume cover letter will not highlight your unique skills and experience.

In fact, a sample cover letter simply inserted with your name and address can have the appearance of a 'canned' letter. Prospective employers can spot a cut and pasted cover letter and it often ends up in the trash instead of the 'call for an interview' stack.

What a Sample Cover Letter Can't Do

You do not have much opportunity to give any hints of your personality in a resume; after all it's just a recitation of your education and work experience. In today's competitive job market, many people share similar certifications and occupational backgrounds; what sets them apart is their work ethic, personality, and yes; even passion for the job!

Prior to the interview, your unique qualities can only come through in the cover letter. A generic sample cover letter just isn't going to give the employer an idea of what sets you apart from the hundreds of other job applicants vying for the same job.

Sending out multiple copies of the same tired cover letter gives the impression that you are lazy and are saturating the job market with the same sample cover letter. What employer wants an employee who is lazy and doesn't have an original thought in their head? Not many.

The Benefits of a Sample Cover Letter

But what if I'm not a creative type of person? That's fine. Not everyone is. We all have our strengths and weaknesses and there are some benefits to using a resume cover letter example.

Using a sample cover letter can give you a foundation to create your own; insuring you stay focused on the task at hand. However, the wording should be your own. A sample cover letter gives you the correct recipe; it's up to you to add the ingredients. If you feel as though you truly need a template use the following hints:

Address your letter to a real, live individual. Avoid the trap of the "Dear Sir/Madam' that is so common in many sample cover letters.

Specifically state how you found out about the job or who referred you. This will help to liven it up.

Mention something unique about the company you hope to employ you. Don't use canned wording like 'your successful track record'.

More Resume Cover Letter Examples

There are several websites dedicated to career related issues which can help you build an impressive cover letter. They also provide sample cover letters and examples of other letters related to the job search process.

Ace's Insights - I Have Stars In My Bones

July 4th is a day to remember. We have many days like that. It brings humility to the front of my mind. I give thanks for my independence. I give praise to yesterday's Fathers. I offer myself in service to all life, with my spirit of freedom.

There are so many thoughts about freedom. The meaning has been doctored over the years, but it still brings a sense of oneness to light. To be one is to be free. Oneness is unity. Unity is energy. Energy is what I am. It is always good to remember that energy is what we all are. Trying to be united in freedom is what history is all about, regardless of the time, place or people involved. We seek to know ourselves through our freedom. As the poem below tells me freedom will not come from outside, it only comes from within me.

Today is the now I believe in. I experience myself with energy. I express myself with unity. I become myself with freedom.

Brothers of the sea,
Look at the stars,
Look at the deep blue
And set the world free.
Our right is to live and be free;
Freedom will not come from outside.
It is only in ourselves united.
(This is Samar fisherman's song from the Philippines)

The small plot of ground
on which you were born
cannot be expected
To stay forever
the same.
Earth changes,
and home becomes different
places.
You took flesh
from clay
but the clay
did not come
from just one
place.
To feel alive,
important, and safe,
know your own waters
and hills, but know
more.
You have stars in your bones
and oceans
in blood
You have opposing
terrain in each eye.
You belong to the land
and sky of your first cry,
you belong to infinity.

Mushroom for nose
Smile for mouth
Song for lungs

Wind for mind
Just enough

We Do Not Stop Growing

At the time of birth we humans are not called adults. We come into the world as infants who must go through various stages of growth before we become adults. We are born as humans, but we have not yet achieved humanity.

This growth is not merely a physical process. It is not automatic. It involves profound dimensions of mind, spirit and personality. The human being must want to grow and be ready to contribute to this growth and development through great personal striving and dedicated effort.

Great people are not born great. Great people are born babies and who in the course of life become great people. Greatness may not be within the reach of everyone, but growth is. We are each capable of being a more mature person today than we were yesterday, and tomorrow we may be further along than we are today. This is a lesson we must not forget, for to forget is lose sight of the basic meaning of life.

A successful life is not measured in terms of what we acquire, but in what we become. True success does not come from the outside, but from within us. Unfortunately, too many of us miss this point. The question posed to us is: Why when we acquire all the material things we want, it isn't enough to bring us happiness? The answer is that it has to do with our human nature. Yes, we need the material things to enable us to survive in comfort. But we are spiritual beings and it is there where we must find fulfillment.

There is a sad fact that many of us do not grow, do not mature; that we do not become the person we could have grown into. When we stop growing morally, spiritually and intellectually, we never achieve true fulfillment and happiness.

Great people do not stop growing during their lifetime. We may retire from our vocations, but we cannot retire from learning, thinking and discovering. The story is told about Pablo Casals, the great cellist, when at age 90, he was asked, "Why do you still practice so many hours a day?" he answered, "Because I think I am improving."

While we are alive, we are always capable of improving. We can be open to new ideas. We can have better relationships. We can come closer to our religious heritage.

After teaching the biblical account of creation, the Sunday School teacher asked a young student, "Who made you?" The youngster gave this unique answer: "Well, to tell you the truth, I ain't made yet." And neither are we. As long as we live we are not fully made; we are still growing.

Prosperity Consciousness

Rejecting the "Can't" & Accepting Your Success

A simple truth I found out - the Law of Attraction is as real as the computer you are viewing this on. The principal is simple much like when you turn on your computer. You might not understand the Intel processor running at 2 million cycles per second but the screen is emitting light waves with graphics and text. What we do with the Law of Attraction is much like your computer. Its connected by the Internet to the World. Quantum physicists and scientist similarly have come to understand this law of the Universe. It is all energy and everything is connected through this energy.

You probably are asking WHY the Law of Attraction?

Around 1991 I found the Law of Attraction almost by "accident." I say an accident because the law of the Universe is well documented but not well advertised, not at least in the early 90s. This sub-atomic area of the Universe is defined as energy or sometimes referred to the zero-point field. It is lowest definable state of energy, the beginning that connects where we are all connected. The "accident" I experienced was picking up the right book at the right time, a book on real Wealth secrets. I realized I wasn't as broke as I thought, just more depressed by years of reverse wealth teachings.

Much like other life stories I was flat broke, no job and living in a park. I still had my sanity, clothes on my back and a mind full of ideas. Thoughts are where this energy initiates the law of attraction. Wealth begins with a state of mind, Thoughts! This is the simplicity of it. In reality it doesn't matter whether you believe it or not. The "accident," our experiences, and the people we talk to are all connected to this zero-point field of pure energy. We shape these thoughts and actions by how we think and begin to realize our real wealth.

I am not talking about repetitious mumbling of what you want but real thoughts and emotions creating wealth. Using your thoughts one can materialize thoughts into physical reality. Much like the example used in "The Secret," Henry Ford industrialized America by a single thought. His thought of a 'horse-less buggy' became reality powered by tapping into this energy. Of course he didn't twiddle his thumbs but used his thoughts to empower the 'horse-less buggy' in to a real object. He didn't think negative thoughts, "I can't do this." You have to eliminate "can't" out of your thoughts. That is reverse wealth teaching we have been subject to. Negative thoughts and emotions create just that -- negative thoughts and emotions! I had thoroughly convinced myself I was the mostly unluckiest man on the planet. I attracted those negative thoughts and emotions creating my poor position. Opposites were only thoughts away. Thinking positive thoughts created a perfect job working with a new field I was interested in, GPS. Global Positioning System was new and the job was perfect. Positive thinking began the energy thrust that changed my life. I didn't just "think" about it but followed my emotions - the first interview, the job was mine!

You now know what to do with the Law of Attraction. If it's a new car, a new house or a new job - the sky is the limit! It can be a new stream of Income or a new set of friends. What I found is available to you now - I wish I had met Bob Doyle and Joe Vitale back in the 90's. Here is some excellent self-help sources that I am involved with them and will begin your journey to being an Internet Millionaire and the Law of Attraction. I recommend at least Bob Doyle's book & course - about Wealth without a Reason. The author, Bob Doyle also have helped multiply my wealth ans success.

The Law of Attraction was introduced to me in 1991 and continue to fulfill my dreams including a seven-day Caribbean cruise this season! Thoughts and a positive attitude are the beginning to your new Wealth. Be sure to visit my websites above for the positive vibes.

Take A Break To Meditate

Often thought of as an Eastern tradition or custom, meditation is gaining prominence as an enriching practice in the Western world. While meditation for many is a spiritual exercise with a specific form and structure, there is no specific manner in which it must be performed in order to achieve results.

Walking in nature, having some quiet time alone or being at worship can all bring about a meditative state resulting in insights as much as participating in more formal practices. In fact, anything you do that has the effect of centering yourself and tuning into the energies available is the act of meditation.

Basic meditation is the state of quieting the mind to bring about stillness. When this occurs, intuitive information may become available, energies are heightened, and calmness is achieved. This is not something that you can actively do, but is something that you allow to manifest.

The focus of meditation can be on the physical, emotional, mental or spiritual level. Focusing on the physical during meditation can help to improve circulation, lower blood pressure, enhance the immune system and give you more control over your body, especially in the areas of pain management and healing. It is an especially valuable tool for anyone who is dealing with a long term, chronic health challenge

Concentration on the emotions can bring about peacefulness, greater understanding of relationships, and help in building a stronger foundation for motivation. Focusing on the mental state helps to bring clarity, creativity and development of conceptual abilities to the mind. On a spiritual level, meditation helps connect us with the Divine Source, brings us in closer contact with our higher self, and opens up new avenues of development.

Meditation can be practiced alone or with others. There are advantages and disadvantages to both approaches. When meditating alone, you have plenty of time and can go as deeply as you wish into a particular meditation. You are free to engage in the practice at a time that is convenient for you and can create your own private space or sanctuary. When engaging in solitary meditation you have no one but yourself to share experiences with and learn from.

Meditation within a group setting can result in stronger mediations and more clarity due to the energy level brought about by the group. It offers a format for sharing experiences so the members can gain insights from each other. The best arrangement would be to use both formats to continue to develop new possibilities and foster growth and development. So if you have not done so already, why not take a break to meditate?

Spiritual Canoe Trip for the Broken

Canoeing the Grand River or any wilderness water is visiting natures psychiatrist couch. The act of paddling has this stilling effect on the spirit house within. The aboriginal Indians put great time emphasis on connecting with creation and the Creator. They visited natures psychiatrist couch on a regular basis.

Today, setting aside reflective time is rare. Busy-ness rules, the traffic of life crushes. And few escape. Disconnected people become broken people and no income level is immune. Healing is needed a moments haven a breath of life for those bent too long.

Perhaps a simple drift on a river is the place to unravel everything. Tunnel vision is replaced by a panoramic sky-view of life. Magnificent scenery with each dip of the paddle. a slowing down a stepping out from the race. Captured moments are given lasting forever creating Liquid Medicine for the Soul.

As an avid canoeist I paddled to experience to take in as much of the wilderness as I could. And that was what canoeing was for me. But that changed with a canoe journey of a broken man. I saw the rejuvenation of a spirit a healing effect and witnessed the story that I am about to share.

Once when I was going on a one week canoe trip, I invited a man battling with a suicide of depressions. He was overcome by emotion wobbly in his thoughts, unsure of his decisions and physically zapped, but he said yes to the canoe trip. The trip pushed him. He was so busy just trying to do it. He was exhausted carrying packs around the rapids. He dreaded getting back in the canoe to paddle the next stretch. His anticipation of the whole experience was waiting for the trip to end.

Unknown, he was slowly woven into the fabric of those he traveled with. Seven days changed him within reflecting out. Laughter returned over mistakes once unforgiven. He gained confidence as unexplained fears were accepted. He jabbered as he paddled indulging in my youngest sons imagination. He even cooked his first campfire meal. And when sleep came, it was no longer restless but deep. He was so busy that he did not have time to let his mind drain his worth.

So what happen was it the mystic creation connection to the river and creation that changed this broken man?

I believe the healing came from stepping into an uncomplicated world. A simple world created by a canoe trip. The trip involved paddling, eating, sleeping and fellowship. And those were the only basics required to enjoy life. Everything else was swept away. The physical ness of the trip forced different values to the fore front and the mindset changed. The repetitive grooving effect from the consuming past or the fearful future was dismissed. Instead there was the dealing with the present change the bare essentials of surviving the canoe trip.

This strange personal time out on natures psychiatrist couch brought healing for the brokenness within. And it was strongly driven home when I received a card a couple of weeks later from the man I took. It simply said, thank you I no longer see the world in black and white but as a rainbow of colours again!

A Successful Life

This world is not lacking in its quest for success, yet so few of us really achieve the success we seek. Perhaps it is because we have not clearly defined success. Merriam-Webster defines success this way: "a favorable or desired outcome." I like this definition because it leaves room for each of us to put our own spin on what success looks like to us. What makes one successful? True success is far more than accolades, money, and degrees. These things can certainly play a role in what success might look like; however, without a clear understanding of what success involves, it will continue to elude us.

So, what does it take to be successful? How do we achieve this "favorable or desired outcome"?

Step one: know who you are. I remember my 8th grade teacher's parting words to me as I ventured on to high school. Quoting William Shakespeare, her advice was, "To thine own self be true." When we are true to ourselves, our lives are governed by our beliefs, our values, and our principles. Consequently, our decisions are based on what is right for us and we stop living to please the rest of the world.

Step two: know who you want to be. This step involves much introspection because, again, it is based on beliefs, values, and principles. It is only after we apply our beliefs, values, and principles to our lives that we can then build a vision of a better self. An old proverb states: "Where there is no vision, the people perish." I take great liberties here to paraphrase by simply saying, "Without a vision of who you want to be, you will surely die without ever knowing who you can become."

Step three: define your mission. A mission is a definite task; it's the reason we exist. I mentioned in a previous article "The Fuel of Motivation" that our mission statement must reflect the values that govern our lives. A clearly articulated mission acts as a vehicle to help you get to your destination-success. Your mission will always depend on what you know about yourself.

Step four: take an honest assessment of your knowledge, skills, and attitude. What do you know about what you want to do? For example, after working through Jack Canfield's program "Self-Esteem and Peak Performance," I realized that I liked speaking and teaching. I also uncovered the fact that I am well suited for this career, and I am extremely effective. It never feels like work to do a seminar, workshop, or keynote. In contrast, I worked once as a data entry clerk-a job I never liked! I had the knowledge and the skills to do the job; however, I was not happy because I did not have the right attitude. I didn't have all of the knowledge and skills to become a public speaker, trainer, and consultant, but my attitude helped me to get what I needed. Assessing your knowledge, skills, and attitude will help you get on the right track to success and happiness.

Step five: know how you're going to get to where you want to go. All successful people set goals. I remember a woman from one of my seminars who mentioned that she did not believe in setting goals because our lives are already predestined. What a tragic way to live! We are all created to live a full and successful life. I don't believe that our achievement is left up to God. I think He leaves it up to us. SMART goals help us take inventory along the way and measure our success. These measurements must be: S- specific, M- measurable, A- attainable, R- realistic, T- time bound.

About 9 years ago, I decided to get serious about my life and began to set goals. It's magical! I have achieved satisfactory results in practically every area I've set a goal in: spiritual, financial, educational, and educational. Two of my major goals were to finish my master's degree and then finish my doctorate degree. Every semester I was able to determine whether I was getting closer to where I wanted to go. If you are serious about achieving success, you must set goals!

Step six: maintain a realistic mind480set about the challenges on the way to true success. A realistic mindset means that things will happen in an attempt to keep you from the success you desire, but you have to keep pressing on. For instance, on your journey to success, you may have to work through a relationship ending, or changing jobs, or suddenly having to take care your elderly parents. Prepare for those moments, and don't let them keep you from your success. I have met so many people in my seminars who started to _____ (you fill in the blank), but they stopped because life happened and they have never restarted. When I was in boot camp for the Army whenever someone started to lag behind during our morning 5-mile run, we would shout "Man up!" In other words, push yourself a little harder now, but do not give up.

Remember, success - on your terms - is within your reach if you will consciously work through these six steps!

Can You See Your Dream

Are You a Competitor or a Creator

The answer to that question could provide considerable insight into many aspects of your life - business and personal. The "good book", The Science of Getting Rich, is clear on the point of using competition to accumulate wealth. It most certainly can be done; people do it everyday. But is it the preferred method of achieving business success?

When we understand the philosophy behind creation, and when we truly leave the competitive plane for the creative plane, that is when we are truly free. Since immersing myself in this study, I have achieved clarity on this point that is absolutely liberating. As internet and network marketers we are often conditioned to be competitive. We are competing for top spot on google, protective of our websites and copy rights, always guarding our success secrets. Some of us even pay to get the latest "secrets" of the internet and networking gurus. When you are in competition you are, by necessity, on guard. Many successful network marketers I know have achieved great success, on the competitive plane. Often, these master marketers exhibit anger that is sometimes mistaken for arrogance. I now see it as protection. The marketer who "makes it" on the competitive plane is ever fearful of "the competition" taking what is his, be it his ideas, his product or his strategies. He presents himself in such a manner so as to discourage others from "stealing" from him. And others will and do steal or borrow from him. He is very wealthy from a monetary stand point, but is he free?

True Freedom

When we move from the competitive to the creative plane, we know that there are no limits to what we can achieve or to the money that we can attract to us. We do not have a need to protect our property or our ideas to the extent that we are consumed by it. We are not on guard or needing to keep our eye on "the competition". We are free to share and cooperate.

We are bombarded on the internet with offers to purchase the "secrets" of the "big dogs" or of the wealthy or the successful, when in truth, knowing their strategies will not assist us at all. That is the real SECRET - that there are no magic bullets, no secrets. When we buy or sell other people's "secrets" we are playing on the competitive field. The TRUTH is that few have ever achieved success by duplicating someone who has. We see this time and again, and the reason is clear when you understand The Law of Attraction. Two people can take the exact same action - one may see great success, the other great failure. Success is not something that can be "copied".

The Certain Way

This is discussed in detail in The Science of Getting Rich. It is stated that the one who achieves success, while doing the same actions as the one who fails, does those actions in THE CERTAIN WAY. This certain way is the creative process, and whether the successful person is aware or not, he is vibrating on the level that is in harmony with success. The person who learns to perform these acts with AWARENESS is able to obtain riches creatively, which is permanent and free from worry or stress. This is THE CERTAIN WAY to obtaining riches in a scientifically correct manner. It cannot fail.

All we need to learn to do is to gain mastery over our own thinking, and how to perform our work in THE CERTAIN WAY. This is truly the only "study" we need to concern ourselves with. Once this is mastered, then it is quite possible that these other offerings may be of some benefit, but certainly not until. What is the use of reading or listening about how others achieved success when it is not their actions that created their success?

I teach how to's of internet marketing, and it has been frustrating as a trainer, when I see some people follow the instructions exactly, yet fail to get the results they should. It is clear that following the advice of successful networkers is not always effective. It is evident that performing the same actions does not produce the same result. It takes more than belief and positive thinking. Network marketers must learn to think and act in the Certain Way.

I believe in my heart, that the study of The Science of Getting Rich, is the first training that is necessary. Learn to master your mind, and the rest will fall into place.

Learn Self Hypnosis Techniques

Although most of us associate hypnosis with the client sitting in a comfortable chair with the hypnosis therapist standing or sitting giving suggestive commands. There are actually lots of self hypnosis techniques that you can learn and apply on yourself, and this way gain full control of your mind. To put it another way these techniques will help you become your own mind manager. Below follows a description of the core of these techniques which you can alter and adjust to fit your needs. This technique pretty much consist of the same core method that the hypnosis therapists are using on their clients. Be aware though, that you should be very careful about which statements you program into your sub-conscious mind. So take your time and select these statements very carefully.

The first thing you have to decide is the purpose for the self hypnosis: What are you really trying to find out or accomplish? As soon as you have defined your goal with the self hypnosis session, you must keep to this goal. Never select more than one goal at a time and resist the temptation of solving all your problems in one batch. You simply will not be able to do that but instead create even more problems by trying that. So how should the statements or suggestions that you're going to implant into your sub-conscious mind be?

They must be positive and represent something good. Never use suggestions like "I'm going to learn to bungee-jump no matter how scared I am". This will only make you even more scared. So cleanse out all negative words when you formulate your suggestions and substitute them with positive words like "I really look forward to bungee-jump and thus have the fantastic feeling of freedom when I fly in the air."

The suggestions you formulate must be easy to remember. Let's say you want to communicate better with other people, then for example you can make a suggestion like, "I am a damn good communicator." Now, write it down and then add all the reasons why you want to reach this goal plus what you expect will happen when you reach it. Each time you repeat the statement, visualize that you succeed to strengthen the message in your sub-conscious mind. It's also important that the suggestions you make are short, direct and specific like "I will only eat healthy food".

When you perform your self hypnosis sessions make sure you are not disturbed. Disconnect the phone, lock the doors and make yourself comfortable. You might lay on a bed or sit on a chair with straight back.

  • Focus your attention on a point slightly above your eye level
  • Take a few deep breaths while you repeat the word "relax" for yourself
  • When you breath out imagine that you're getting rid of all the bad air that have caused all the trouble inside you and that you substitute it with the fresh air you breath in
  • Close your eyes and try to focus on a few (3 to 5) sounds you can hear like water running in the pipeline, the wind that blows outside, the rain tapping on the roof etc. Also be aware of what you feel for the moment like the temperature of your skin, the weight of your body against the chair or bed etc.
  • Start the descent to your subconscious mind by imagining that you are walking down a ten step spiral staircase to a beautiful garden which awaits at the end of your descent. For each step you take you have to pass layers of clouds and you feel more and more relaxed and all your worries are gradually leaving you. When you dismount the last step, you put your foot on a green lawn which have a glow on it from the rays of the sun.
  • You should now be sufficiently relaxed to start the repetition of your suggestions or statements to your subconscious mind. Repeat each suggestion three times with a short break in between. When you're finished with your suggestions, imagine that you slowly climb back to the top of the staircase.
  • Now the self hypnotic session is over and you are back in your ordinary state of mind.

Try it out. If you feel that hypnosis can help you accomplish whichever goal you have, redo it and make it a regular practice for your own self improvement.

Unblocking Copywriter's Block

One of the copywriting questions I get frequently is "How do I know what to write next in my sales copy? I'm Stuck!" Seems like a tough one, but really it's not. At least, not when you think about your copy the way you should be thinking about it.

Unfortunately, most new copywriters think of writing copy as a speech, and that's why they get stuck. They've got this image in their head of hundreds or thousands of people reading their page, and they freeze up just as they might if they were delivering the speech live. It's the stage fright that causes the writer's block.

More reasons? They use speech that is too-formal (like they're used to writing in their day-job when writing a report for their bosses' boss), and they never take risks or ask questions. The text comes out unemotional, boring, dry, and totally unmotivating. Motivation is what you're after here. . . the motivation to buy.

So take some advice here. Think of your sales letter as a conversation. A conversation that you predict and control. You determine the path of the discussion. You imagine and select the questions that your reader will ask, and you will answer. And you decide where your prospect will end up -- as the owner of your product.

More tips? Here you go:

1) Speak in personal language, with personal pronouns, like "you" and "your."

2) Be personal, casual, and actually care about who you are helping. I told a workshop member last week during his private consultation that he should rewrite his sales letter and imagine that he's transcribing (onto his sales letter) exactly what he might say if he met his prospect at a casual party. Wouldn't you just sit across the table, lean over, and ask some questions about your prospect's situation? His needs? The problems he's had solving it so far?

3) Actually add a "Frequently Asked Questions" section to your sales letter, but don't call it that. If you sell a dog training ebook, you can title it like this "The Three Biggest Dog-Training Questions, and Their Answers". Let me ask you. . . who on that website wouldn't read anything that follows that subhead? When you're stuck for what to write next, just ask yourself "What question would my reader have right now?"

4) Start where your prospect is. I am re-reading "How to win friends and influence people" by Dale Carnegie right now. One of the things he says is (paraphrased) "Bait your hook with something desireable to the fish, not the fisherman." Too often, we write from our own perspective, not our customers.'

In fact, that is the single biggest mistake that someone can make with their copy. If you're trying to solve a problem that your customer doesn't have, you're not going to make a sale no matter what you say. On the other hand, if you truly know your customer -- and by that I mean his demographics, her psychographics, what he wants, what she needs, what he fears -- then you're going to be far more successful with your website sales than you ever imagined.

I call it "X-Raying your Customer" because you need to see and know what is going on beyond the surface, deep inside what motivates your prospect. "Prospect Xray" is my new ebook all about knowing your customer better. And it's major goal is to help you overcome the writer's block that most copywriters encounter. The result will be a more personal sales letter -- one that will help you make more sales than ever.

Go see Prospect Xray here: www.ProspectXray.com

One more thing. You've heard it hundreds or thousands of times before. . . "People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care." Well, the best way to care about your customer is to actually know who your customer is.

ProspectXray will take you, step by step, into your customer's mind and motivations to help you know him or her better.

And for a limited time, it comes with a bonus ebook, "Survey Power". Use surveys to confirm and deepen what you'll learn about your prospect with the Xray.

These two ebooks together are a powerful combination, and when you get ProspectXray, you'll get SurveyPower, too. Free. At least, for now. www.ProspectXray.com

Discover How Your Perceptions Can Affect What You Attract

One of the things that you may not realize is that your perceptions have a huge impact on what you attract into your life. This may be one of the reasons why you may not seem to be able to attract what you want. Once you get your perceptions right you start to attract the things that you have been tying to attract for so long. Here are 3 ways that your perception can affect what you attract.

1. Perceptions conflicts.

One of the greatest examples of this is a guy once told me that he had been trying to attract wealth into his life for several years but it had not happened yet. He wanted to know why that was. After a few minutes of talking to him he told me things like Rich people are all rude and Rich people are crooks. He may have wanted to be wealthy but internally he believed that that would mean he would have to be rude and a crook. No wonder he hadnt attracted wealth yet.

2. Perceptions affect your actions.

For you to attract the things you want there are certain actions that you will have to take to attract them. However, your perceptions and beliefs drive your behaviours. If you have the perception that is takes money to make money, you will never take any action unless you have money. Change your perceptions and beliefs and you will find that it actually doesnt take money to make money and guess what, you will start making money!

3. Proper Perceptions.

If your perceptions and beliefs are correctly aligned with what you want to attract, you will have what you want sooner then you know it. Take a perception check and see if there are things that are out of line with your perceptions and what you want to attract. If there is, make the proper adjustments. Sometimes the only thing holding you back is one tine belief.

Understanding the Law of Sowing and Reaping

The Law of Sowing and Reaping is the universal law with many names. Every culture and civilization have their own way of defining or describing this law. Sowing and reaping cut across the board and colors every discipline and activity under heaven. It is universal law because it removes the illusion separateness and connects everything in the spiritual and material universe. The law of sowing and reaping affects Spirituality, Mental Dynamics, Health, Economics, Agriculture, Relationships, philosophy and Science.

The word 'universe' means one song. The definition of the universe implies that existing things should be regarded as collective entity. This may also explain my version of the law of relativity; that everything is connected directly or indirectly through energy (law of magnets). Yes, that everything is relative: the spiritual is relative to the mental and the physical world. "The more I study physics, the more I am drawn to metaphysics," says Albert Einstein.

The law of sowing and reaping is also God's system of operation. On the other hand, the world system is based on buying and selling. God governs the universe through laws laws He set up before humans appeared on the horizon. It is not enough to know Jesus; you must understand the way He operates his kingdom. This is important because every law of macrocosm (larger universe) also operate within humans (microcosm or universe within the heart).

"The law of sowing and reaping is a kingdom law which, subsequently governs the earth and all natural or material matter," says Kenneth Copeland.

The law of sowing and reaping has many descriptive names. Here are some of them:

Brian Tracy describes this strategic law as the 'iron law of human destiny.'

Stephen Covey in his book 'Seven Habits of Highly Effective People' describes this law as the 'law of the farm.'

Physicists version of this law is called 'action and reaction' described in Newton's law of motion.

Eastern Religions calls it the law of Karma or retributive justice. Or, more commonly the law of cause and effect.

In the Bible, the Lord describes it as the Golden Rule: "Treat others the way you want to be treated." Jesus says that upon this law hangs every other Law and the Prophets. In other words, the Golden Rule is the law of sowing and reaping applied to relationships. In short, it is the mother of all laws and ties everything together.

This law is so important in God's economy that after telling the multitude the parable of the sower, Jesus disciples asked him the meaning of the parable. Jesus was shocked and asked, "how can you know other parables if you can't understand the parable of the sower?"

Except the law of love, every natural law of universe hangs on this law including attraction, relationships, correspondence, substitution, relativity, returns, and energetics. Ultimately, these laws determine abundance or lack in the material universe.

Ethics in Business...A Lost Art

While watching Face the Nation one Sunday earlier this year, Bob Schiffer discussed the airline industry, his mother and ethics in business. Like Bob, I think it is a sad commentary today, that we have to police businesses. Whatever happened to going into business to provide a needed service, being loyal to employees, and keeping promises.

It seems like no one today is concerned about doing good business or being ethical in the process. Our forefathers would be ashamed at what this society has come to. I know I am.

Chuck and I teach our students how to run a good business, by being ethical, and making sure that everyone is happy. We run our business using the adage, The customer is always right. We know, however, from looking at others in business both on and offline, that we are in the minority. For most it is all about making money. They dont care who they have to step on, how many lies they tell, just show them the money. As I pointed out in my article regarding The Almighty Buck, this should not be your only incentive for going into business, and if it is, you wont be in business long.

We see sites every day that you cant find a telephone number on, an address for, they just want you to take it on faith that they are on the up and up. Years ago, a business would never even think of operating this way. Their name, address, phone number, slogan etc. was very prominent on everything they did. Unfortunately today, you cant take people on faith anymore. Its very sad, but it seems if you do so, most of the time, you will get burned.

Years ago, companies were known for their honesty, their integrity, and their good products. They had to be to stay in business and keep the good image they wanted to project. This gave their company a good name. As many of you know, we come from New York. Kodak, Grumman, and IBM were major companies in down and upstate NY. If you got a job with them you had a job for life, and once you retired you didnt have to worry. Today, people are losing their medical benefits, their pensions, their life savings; due to businesses thinking of only the bottom line.

Every time you open a newspaper or watch the news today you hear about another business unethical business practices. They cook the books, take bonuses they dont disclose, while they expect employees to work for less. There is something very wrong with this picture. It also says to our future entrepreneurs, that this behavior is alright, just dont get caught.

Like Bob Schiffer, Id much rather go back to the time when businesses dealt with us in an ethical manner and didnt only concentrate on lining their pockets, like today. Also, like Bob, I think what we need are different teachings in our business schools. The philosophy of todays teachers, needs to re-vamped to reflect the philosophies of old. What we need is to throw out the new, and bring back the old. As Bob said, if his mom was teaching today, students would get a completely different viewan old fashioned one. Kudos to Bobs mom!

Shakespeare's Sonnet XVIII, Shall I Compare Thee to a Summer's Day?

Shakespeares sonnets require time and effort to appreciate. Understanding the numerous meanings of the lines, the crisply made references, the brilliance of the images, and the complexity of the sound, rhythm and structure of the verse demands attention and experience. The rewards are plentiful as few writers have ever approached the richness of Shakespeares prose and poetry.

Sonnet XVIII is also known as, Shall I Compare Thee to a Summers Day? It was written around 1599 and published with over 150 other sonnets in 1609 by Thomas Thorpe.

The first 126 sonnets are written to a youth, a boy, probably about 19, and perhaps specifically, William Herbert, Earl of Pembroke. His initials, W.H., appear in Thorpes dedication, and the first volume of Shakespeares plays, published by two of his fellow actors, Herminge and Condell, after Shakespeares death, was dedicated to William Herbert.

Sonnet XVIII is one of the most famous of all of Shakespeares sonnets. It is written in the sonnet style that Shakespeare preferred, 14 lines long with three quatrains (four rhymed lines) and a couplet (a pair of rhymed lines).

The Sonnet praises the youths beauty and disposition, comparing and contrasting the youth to a summer day. Then the sonnet immortalizes the youth through the eternal lines of the sonnet.

First Quatrain

The first line announces the comparison of the youth with a summer day. But the second line says that the youth is more perfect than a summer day. More temperate can be interpreted as more gentle. A summer day can have excesses such as rough winds. In Shakespeares time May was considered a summer month, a reference in the third line. The fourth line contains the metaphor that summer holds a lease on the year, but the lease is of a short duration.

Second Quatrain

This quatrain details how the summer can be imperfect, traits that the youth does not possess. The fifth line personifies the sun as the eye of heaven which is sometimes too scorchingly hot. On the other hand, his gold complexion, the face of the sun, can be dimmed by overcast and clouds. According to line 7, all beautiful things (fair means beautiful) sometimes decline from their state of beauty or perfection by chance accidents or by natural events. Untrimmed in line 8 means a lack of decoration and perhaps refers to every beauty from line 7.

Third Quatrain

This quatrain explains that the youth will possess eternal beauty and perfection. In line 10 owst is short for ownest, meaning possess. In other words, the youth shall not lose any of your beauty. Line 11 says that death will not conquer life and may refer to the shades of classical literature (Virgils Aeneid) who wander helplessly in the underworld. In line 12 eternal lines refers to the undying lines of the sonnet. Shakespeare realized that the sonnet is able to achieve an eternal status, and that one could be immortalized within it.

The Final Couplet

The couplet is easy to interpret. For as long as humans live and breathe on earth with eyes that can see, this is how long these verses will live. And these verses celebrate the youth and continually renew the youth's life.

Shall I Compare Thee is one of the most often quoted sonnets of Shakespeare. It is complex, yet elegant and memorable, and can be quoted by men and women alike. It has been enjoyed by all generations since Shakespeare and will continue to be enjoyed so long as men can breathe, or eyes can see.

Sonnet XVIII, Shall I Compare Thee?
By William Shakespeare

Shall I compare thee to a Summer's day?
Thou are more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And Summer's lease hath all too short a date:
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimm'd;
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance or nature's changing course untrimm'd:
But thy eternal Summer shall not fade
Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow'st;
Nor shall Death brag thou wander'st in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou grow'st:
So long as men can breathe, or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

Life In The Hot Sahara Desert

The Sahara Desert is the world's largest hot desert and is spread across 8.6 million square kilometers in Northern Africa. The average year round temperature in Sahara exceeds 30C with the temperatures rising above 50 degree centigrade during summers and the winter temperatures falling below freezing point. With the daily temperature variation fluctuating anywhere between the values -0.5 to 37.5 degree centigrade, the conditions are really harsh and difficult to sustain life and this condition is further deteriorated due to the hot, dusty winds. The high temperatures during summer, scanty rainfall, and freezing winters, along with the severely dry weather make Sahara's weather very inhospitable. As a result, plant and animal population is sparse.

Plants and animals develop certain adaptations in order to adapt to life in the harsh desert conditions.

Desert plants possess very long roots that penetrate very deep into the earth, and their broad leaves are replaced with spines, and thick green stems in desert plants like cactus where the spines help in preventing excessive water loss while the stem performs photosynthesis as well as holds water for a very long time. Xerophytes, grasses, shrubs, and trees comprise the common vegetation in the Sahara desert.

Desert animals rarely come out in the hot sun and instead stay underground during most part of the day and eat such foods which contain a lot of water content. The desert animals are also smaller in size which minimizes water loss from their bodies. The animal species found in the Sahara include the desert hedgehog, gerbil, jerboa, cape hare, common jackal, dorcas gazelle, oryx, dama deer, Nubian wild, barbary sheep, anubis baboon, spotted hyena, sand fox, Libyan striped weasel, the slender mongoose, rattlesnakes, kangaroo rats, kit foxes and numerous species of frogs, toads, crocodiles, lizards, chameleons, skinks, cobras snails, brine and algae shrimps.
