How Do We Interpret Things?

With lot of things or events happening around us on a daily basis, we start believing that events control our lives and our environment has shaped who we are today. Right? No. . . wrong! It is not the events that shape up our lives, but our beliefs as to what those events mean to us. Take for example, two children born of the same father. where father is an alcoholic, drug addict, bitter and cruel who killed a liquor store cashier. One of his son turned out exactly like him. Where as his brother has a totally different story. . . a man raising three kids, happily married, working as a general manager for a blue chip company, finds work both challenging and rewarding. How these two people turned out to be totally different from each other, in spite of having grown up in the same environment?

When both were asked privately about this. . . they had the same answer. . . "What else could I have become with a father like that?"

Similarly, two women turning 70, each take a different meaning from the same event. One knows. . . that her life is coming to end. To her living seven decades means that her body must be breaking down and she did better be ready to exit from this game of life. The other woman decides that what a person is capable of doing at any age depends upon their beliefs and she sets a higher standard for herself. She decides that mountain climbing might be a good sport to begin at the age of 70!For the next 25 years, she devotes herself to this new adventure thus scaling some of the highest peaks of the world. Thus in her nineties, Hulda Crooks became the oldest woman to ascend Mount Fuji.

What I am trying to make a point here is. . . it is never the environment, it is never the events of our lives, but the meaning we derive from these events. . . how we interpret them, that shapes who we are today and who we will become tomorrow. So start giving the right meaning to the events of your life and make them memorable ones!

Dream Big - Self Help Tips

If you are going to dream you might as well dream big. Too many people want to play it safe. You have to have enough confidence or belief in yourself to take a chance. No one ever became successful by playing it safe. Playing it safe will get you just that, safe. If you want the big pay off you have to take the big risks. You have to be able to dream big and plan to fail. Everywhere you look there are examples of this. Let me share just one story of many. We all know who Rocky is or should we say Sylvester Stallone.

If you don't know his story it is one to be respected. Rocky/Sly as most people call him, had a dream. He wanted to make it in Hollywood. He wanted to be a famous movie actor. So he wrote this thing called a screenplay about this kid named rocky that had a dream to make something of his life. Sly packed up everything he had into his broken down station wagon and headed off to Hollywood. When he arrived in Hollywood he started to shop around his script. Everywhere he went people turned him down. Many even scoffed at him. Then one day a big movie producer said they would buy the script and offered Sly a million dollars for it.

The only catch was they were going to hire someone else to play the part of Rocky. He turned it down. At that time he had no money, was living in his car and someone just offered him a million dollars and he turned it down! Why, because it wasn't his dream. It wasn't about the money. You see he wasn't just dreaming, Sly was dreaming big. He could've played it safe and took the million dollars but fast-forward a bit. Someone eventually did buy the script with the conditions he wanted and he did play the role of Rocky. He was also the 1st actor to demand 20 million dollars a movie and the rest is history.

Oh, by the way I had a small role in the movie Rocky V so I did get to meet him and Sylvester Stallone, in my opinion, is a true leader, difference maker, and a Champion.

And by the way, he really does talk like that... "Yo Adrian" LOL

Sylvester Stallone wasn't afraid to dream big, he wasn't afraid to fail.

Are you willing to dream big?

Are you willing to fail?

Real is an expert at helping people achieve their dreams & Goals.

You might recognize him as Lt. Taggert from the ABC Show General Hospital.

What Skills Are Required To Be A Good Translator?

These days, people all across the globe generally believe that translation is just the involuntary substitution of languages, and therefore anybody can be a translator if she or he knows a foreign language. This perception is completely wrong, just having a good knowledge of foreign languages does not give any 100% assurance that a translation will be rendered reasonably well. In simple words translation requires skill to make the right and good analysis of the meaning in the target language. Moreover, a translator must be aware of the essence of the subject besides having a fine awareness of the language, including language rules, and spelling rules.

However, as the world is getting more globalize, in the past couple of years we are coming across the greatest challenge of text conversion and that is how to find the proper equilibrium between conveying the sense and beauty of the initial text and making the target conversion more efficient and effective. Only talented translators are competent of finding this sense of balance. So having a superior knowledge of the translation subject is just a part of the translation process.

A skilled text converter has something else and it is his/her talent. He or she must have the ability to make a virtual world where the source language author and the target language reader can network with one another. A talented text converter makes the best use of the nuance present in the source text in order to develop a fresh and effective target text.

The service that translators provide to enhance cultures and nurture languages has been noteworthy throughout history. Translators are transferring messages from one language to another, while preserving the underlying cultural ideas and values. Focusing on these facts, today some questions are being raised: what expertise is needed to encourage translating ability? How can someone turn into a good translator? If you are serious about becoming a successful translator, you must be able to fulfill or follow the following criteria:

1: The first and most important step is reading of different translations of different types of texts. An effective translating requires first-class knowledge, so approachable skills should be developed before performing any text conversion. An excellent translator has a complete knowledge of both source and target speech, so you must understand the diverse genres in both source and target verbal communication. It helps in improving reading aptitude in general, and gives insights, which can be subconsciously useful.

2: The second most vital talent required is the potential to write appropriately in both source and target languages. Writing is the chief work of a text converter. You should be well aware of different styles of writing and morals of editing in both source and target language. Factors like editing and proper punctuation usage increase the value and readability of the translation.

3. You should have listening ability to understand and alertness to grasp various expressions, idioms, and specific vocabulary and their uses. This talent is like an intuition and can't be developed easily, so to a certain extent it requires regular practice. Language intuition is like a necessity for all those who want to be proficient translators.

4. The act of translating is like accepting the significance of the source text within the framework of the source-language discourse. Now in order to enlarge this understanding, you must make yourself aware with cultural divergence and the diverse strategies present in the source and target verbal communication.

5. You should also be well aware of diverse registers, styles of speaking, and social stratification of both source and target languages. This socio-cultural awareness, helps in improving the quality of translations to a large level. It is very important to understand that the work of translating takes place in the socio-cultural framework; as a result it is very vital to evaluate translating activity only within a social perspective.

6. In order to develop excellent translation proficiency, you have to become yourself attentive of different knowledge-providing sources like bilingual dictionaries, encyclopedias and learn how to utilize them. Now using dictionaries requires a very technical proficiency. Words have diverse meanings in different circumstance, and therefore you have to perform a repetitive exercise to know the projected meaning of words in a specific situation.

7. In addition to this you should know the sentence structure of indirect speech and different figures of speech in the source language like hyperbole, irony, and meiosis. Having detail knowledge of these figures of speech will further help in changing your flaccid knowledge into active talent.

Finally, you should know that it takes much more to be a good and skilled translator. Talented translators are not made overnight, it definitely requires a significant investment in both source and target speech. For every talented text converter, switching simultaneously between two universes is one of the most demanding tasks. Consequently refined and systematic practice can lead to the development of skills that can further help in being a good translator.

Luck Is What Happens When

Overcome the Fear of Change

Do you feel discomfort or fear when there are things changing in your life? This is quite common for adults to feel while children rarely experience those feelings. Children usually are excited about all the new things that are coming their way - new friends to play with and more things to learn.

When you were young, you did not resist change. You anticipated change. You anticipated growth. But many adults do not look forward to getting new jobs, switching careers or relocating to a new city. I wonder when people decide they have reached the point where they want things around them to stay the same.

Be aware of the fact that change is an unchanging truth. Intentional or not, your life is always changing. Look back one year ago or even 10, 20 and 30 years ago, how has your life changed? You have finished school. You have started a career. Maybe you have started a family also. How about the people around you, how have they changed? Have you lived in different places? I am sure you would notice lots of changes over the years. Yet, many people still have a strong tendency to resist change.

If you are among those who fear changes, here are three effective ways to help you overcome that fear:

"Feel the fear and do it anyway." Everyone has a comfort zone. Your fear is a warning that you are about to step outside of your comfort area. If it is your intention to do something different from what you are accustomed to, then your fear is a welcoming signal. Your comfort zone will grow each time you venture outside of it. Remember the first time you drove and you were not even sure how to do it on an empty road? How about the first time you drove on the expressway? How about now? Do you sometimes find yourself driving with one hand on the steering wheel and the other hand fumbling on the music player searching for your favorite song while talking to your friend sitting beside you? Rather than let you fear hold you back, embrace the opportunity to grow. Keep practicing until it becomes second nature to you.

Focus on your goal. The anticipation of pain is one of the main causes of fear. Do you realize that a lot of this pain resides only in your imagination. Have you ever experienced that actually taking the feared action has been much easier than you imagined it to be? Perhaps it was the first time for you performing on stage or it may have been the first job interview you had. To allay your fear, set your goal and understand why achieving this goal is important for you. Make a decision to do it and commit to it. Focus on your goal and it will help to keep your fear at bay.

Identify the benefits of change. When a person associates change with loss, it can be difficult. A caterpillar will never become a butterfly if it is so attached to its identity that it refuses to morph. What benefits will you gain from making that change? Will you lose anything as a result? Is it a true loss or a perceived loss? Many people are hard hit by the prospect of a job loss, retirement, relocation or family changes. For sure, those situations can be emotionally challenging but they can also open up opportunities for something even better.

Recognize that you are not alone feeling the fear of change. Join some support groups if you need emotional support. Recruit the help of mentors or coaches to help you gain an independent perspective and learn from their experiences so you can have a smooth or even fun transition.

Powerful Beliefs In The Bible

The Most Asked Question in the Universe

I am sure that you have heard it said absolutely too many times: If you want to create the life of your dreams, you have to believe to receive!

Is it really all about having FAITH? Is it really about positive thinking? Is it really that simple?

For a very long time, I felt I was doing all the things I was supposed to be doing to create the marvelous life that I envisioned.

  • I had positive thoughts.
  • I created vision boards.
  • I mediated and prayed.

I truly believed in my heart that my life would be as beautiful and as bountiful as my dreams. I had tremendous faith, but despite all the input, there was no output ... Well, at least not my desired positive output. In fact, my life seemed to get worse.

I started to ponder some serious questions:

  • Was all of my work to create the life of my dreams done in vain?

  • Can we really create our own reality?

  • Is all of this "Law of Attraction" stuff a hoax?

I am sure many of you can relate to this feeling. The most asked question in the Universe seems to be:

"What am I doing wrong?" I pondered this question for awhile.

I learned a very important lesson in my journey to bliss:

No matter how accomplished a pianist, and no matter how perfectly the piano keys are struck, if the piano is out of tune, the results CAN NOT be magnificent ... The instrument used to express the genius must be in tune!

What does all of this mean?

You may have brilliantly created a marvelous life in your mind. You may have unwavering faith that it will manifest for you one day. You may even believe you have done all the perfect things to manifest this masterpiece, but if your body, mind and soul (the instruments used to create and to experience the life of your dreams) is out of balance, your magnificence CAN NOT be expressed.

Many of us have gone for years (or maybe even decades) living lives that were definitely not the lives we would have created purposefully. Nevertheless, our life thus far is what we created, good or bad.

Why?

Because of the state of our mind, body and soul during the creation process!

  • Many have bad memories they are holding onto which keeps them from creating the life of their dreams.
  • Many have unhealthy and unenergetic bodies which inhibit them from completing the tasks necessary to create the life of their dreams.
  • Many spend their lives doing things they deem necessary instead of things they love which leaves their souls hungry.

With all of this, many people just can't seem to figure out why their life is not exactly the way they dreamed it would be.

Hmmm!

I raise my hand very high and admit to once being a member of this popular club!

The most important lesson I learned from my experience from rising from below sea level to extreme heights (from drowning to soaring) is that before I start working on my masterpiece , I have to make sure my instruments are in tune! When my body, mind and soul are in balance, my expression is perfection.

Balance is essential.

Choose to energize your mind, body and soul with the positives! YOUR LIFE really can be as beautiful and as bountiful as YOU create it to be! Self Empowerment is the Key!

You May Say I'm a Dreamer

Imagine There's No Heaven, It's Easy If You Try, No Hell below Us, above Us Only Sky, Imagine All the People Living for Today. Imagine There's No Countries, It Isn't Hard to Do, Nothing to Kill or Die for, and No Religion Too. Imagine All the People Living Life in Peace. Think about It.

It's hard to imagine, with the information today and even 50 years ago that most people still believe in religions all over the world, just because they were raised to believe in them. Religions of the future will have to adapt to change, a little faster as more people read articles like mine to promote education within your religion.

Find out a little bit more about Your Religious Freedom

Top 12 Qualities of True Business Professionals

Many in the business, education, government and not for profit sectors consider themselves to be true professionals. Yet if this was so, why are we experiencing far more poor ethics from the financial meltdown to pay for play to the decline in even professional associations?

Professionalism is a word embraced by many, but in all honesty demonstrated by far fewer individuals. Its Latin's origins come from the word profess which means "to avow before." So the question is what are these individuals who believe themselves to be true professionals avowing before? Possibly the answer may be found within the word professional.

1. P = Positively proactive. Professionals demonstrate behaviors that are positive and proactive instead of negative and reactive.

2. R = Respect. Through this ethic and value of respect, professionals are known and trusted within and without their respective organizations.

3. O - Opportunities to help others. Those who avow before understand they have a responsibility to help others whether it is to grow self leadership skills or provide some expert advice.

4. F - Follow-up. No one likes to wait for un-returned phone calls or emails. Professionals make it a habit to follow-up on everything and accept responsibility when they fail to engage in that behavior.

5. E - Empathy. Professionals know how to be empathetic. This characteristic is a one of the signs of high emotional intelligence and a predictor for leadership success.

6. S - Self-confident. When individuals are self confident, they do not have to put others down at their own expense. These individuals have a high sense of balanced self-esteem and role awareness.

7. S - Sustainable. Professionals are truly sustainable in that they can continue forward when times become difficult. Their ethics and beliefs keep them focused.

8. I - Integrity. Simply simply, integrity is putting your values into action; doing the right thing when no one else is looking without personal gain or benefit; and accepting a potential personal cost.

9. O - Optimize all interactions. This is really critical because professionals do not negate the value of people. They look to see how one interaction can benefit someone else even before themselves.

10. N - Nimble. Being flexible and open to change allows these individuals to be quick on their feet, nimble to the opportunities that they encounter on a daily basis.

11. A - Awareness. Having a high level of awareness of themselves, the marketplace, the community and even the world helps these individuals to continually stay on top of things.

12. L - Leadership. Last, but not least, professionals demonstrate exceptional leadership skills and even more importantly self leadership skill. For if you cannot lead yourself, you cannot lead others.

Leadership Coaching Tip: Take a few moments to revisit this list and determine if there are any areas to be further developed. Remember the origins of the word professional - to avow before and are your actions in alignment with your beliefs?

A Rich Man To Enter The Kingdom

Spreading the Good Word of God Gently

The other day I was walking through the park when I saw a man, an extremely large man reading the Bible. I was minding my own business like I normally do in full observation mode, just simply enjoying life. When what I thought was a tree reading the Bible, moved and scared the crap out of me. This man was about 6'9" and look like he played professional football but when he spoke it was nonthreatening and very gentle.

Have you read the Bible he said. I thought to myself, you have got to be kidding me. Couldn't this person have been smaller and what's he going to do when I tell him that I have but no longer follow Christianity. I liked my face and the rest of my body, should I lie to this man to save my own life or would he be understanding about my beliefs.

I threw the dice out on the table and told him that I have read the Bible and do not believe it is the word of God, the Creator of the universe. I explained to him that, there is a lot of useful information and some wonderful stories in the Bible but that it could not completely be proven as factual information. I continued to explain to him that there was a lot of information in the Bible that contradicted itself and some that simply wasn't true.

He sat back down on the park bench and asked me to join him. I couldn't resist as I always have enjoyed talking about religion and ready to learn something about this man and why he is a Christian. He started to tell me about some recent events that have happened in his life, some bad, some worse and of course some that he didn't want to talk about. However, he did mention a trip to church a few Sundays ago that changed his life.

I was happy for him that he had found peace but explained to him that he is extremely vulnerable to anything right now that can make a little sense out of his life. Be careful I told him, because you could get caught up in something that feels and sounds good, only to find out later in life, that you have questions about Christianity that can't be answered.

I had a very pleasant conversation with this person and I believe he appreciated a few of the points I made. When people are down and out and their lives seem to be really messed up, they're extremely vulnerable to others religious beliefs, whether they're right or wrong.

Don't force your religious beliefs onto others, be kind and courteous to those who are on the edge and having difficulties in life. Explaining to them about your religion and how it has benefited you is wonderful but it might not be as beneficial to someone else. The next time you plan on converting someone who is down in the dumps, make sure that you understand your own religion before you pass false beliefs onto others.

It's like a cancer spreading through the body, most of the cancer cells don't know what they are doing or how much damage is going to be done until it's too late.

Guilt Feeding On Your Conscience

Avoiding the Health Risks of Anger

Well, you should have thought about that first!

The womans voice was loud, too loud for the restaurant. We were trying to enjoy a relaxing meal when the argument erupted a few tables over- a couple in open disagreement.

I didnt want to think about it, he shouted at her.
By now my meal was loosing its flavor, disrupted by the unpleasant outbursts projected from across the room.

Its called anger. We all know it. Weve all experienced it. For some of us it happens rarely. Others dip into its dark shadows daily. But did you know that anger isnt just emotionally damaging?

Its true. Anger can do more than upset us emotionally. Anger can have deleterious effects on our physical bodies. It can actually produce heart disease and keep us from having a healthy heart.

Sound far-fetched? It shouldnt. Medical science has known about the harmful effects of anger for hundreds of years, but only lately have physicians been recommending people address their anger.

Dr. Kirk Laman, a board certified cardiologist, with a special interest in heart disease prevention suggests that we look at anger just as we look at other risk factors for heart disease.

Anger is a powerful emotion. If left unchecked it can actually cause a heart attack, said Dr. Laman. All of us are aware of the traditional risk factors for heart disease- smoking, high cholesterol, diabetes, and high blood pressure. Yet, recently the American Heart Association has recognized that emotional issues can also place us at risk for developing heart problems.

Numerous medical studies have cited anger as a cause of heart trouble. In the medical journal, Circulation (October 1995) anger was shown to precede and actually trigger a heart attack.

In the article they studied 1623 men and women, evaluating the amount and timing of anger in the peoples lives. These researchers were able to find a direct relationship between having anger and developing a heart attack.

In another study on anger (Circulation, May 2000), 12,986 people who carried more anger were twice as likely to have a heart attack, die, or need angioplasty or bypass surgery when compared to people who were less angry.

Indeed, anger isnt just an emotional issue. It truly can be harmful to our health.

What can we do about anger? Well, the first thing is to become more aware of when we are having anger. We can do this by becoming more aware of our hearts in general. We can also begin thinking more about stress reduction.

One useful thing to do is to set aside 20 minutes each evening for reflection. Journaling can also be helpful. Reflect how your heart felt throughout your day. Were you upset, frustrated? Just by spending time reflecting, you can begin to conquer the harmful feelings that over take your heart.

If youre someone who is angry a great deal seek professional help. Find a psychotherapist or counselor and begin developing the skills needed for creating a more healthy heart.

Anger is a risk, but you can avoid suffering from debilitating heart disease.

Kirk Laman, D.O., F.A.C.C. is a cardiologist, author, and public speaker. His unique message, How Heart Centered Living is the Key to Health and Well Being captivates and motivates audiences to improve their lives.

Dr. Kirk Laman is a board certified cardiologist with a special interest in preventative cardiology. Dr. Laman has written for the Detroit News, Medical Economics, as well as Lansings, Healthy and Fit magazine. He has been interviewed on ABC, NBC, and PBS television in Michigan. His book, How to Heal Your Broken Heart- A Cardiologists Secrets for Physical, Emotional, and Spiritual Health: http://www.drlaman.com/book.html published by Advantage Press. In the book Dr. Kirk Laman offers readers a simple and easy way to begin the process of healing the psychological and emotions issues that trouble their hearts.

Dr. Laman is also an avid public speaker. He brings his twenty years of practical experience as a cardiologist and healer/pastor to the table as he offers useful lessons in heart felt living. Developing a deep connection with others in one of the key skills for success.

How Harmful Can Some Words Be

Could you imagine someone telling you that if you don't do something, you're going to suffer a horrible punishment and possibly death, because you chose to ignore their message. Can simple words create powerful beliefs, isn't this what some religious doctorines create? Even the media does it, think about it the next time you turn your television on or read the newspaper.

You seem to believe something because someone told you that's how it is and when you go to question them, they simply repeat the simple statement, that's how is. It's hard to imagine a few words, articulated almost perfectly can create an overwhelming emotion in someone.

The Germans used propaganda to create fear with a few of these words. It's not just a few of these words, there's more power behind these words if their repeated often. These words can build up someone's hopes and dreams or tear them apart.

Is there a quote that you're fond of? You probably memorized it and it has some sort of significance or creates a certain feeling when mentioned. Quotes are organized words that create powerful beliefs in some people.

If I mention the words," I have a dream" you probably think of Martin Luther King. These four words meant a lot to people that were struggling for their freedom, not only in America but around the world. These words are a example of powerful words that have created a wonderful feeling.

When these powerful words create fear you know it. If you watch the news, night after night and they keep telling you how bad the economy is, it doesn't take long before you believe it. You tighten up your budget and stop spending money, because you are now fearful and don't want to lose what you have. When everyone starts holding onto their money, the economy actually does become worse over time.

Can simple words create powerful beliefs? Yes obviously they can and they do, so be careful when listening to words that create fear and try not to spread this fear around to others. Fear can be turned into relief if the right words are used, I would suggest using happy words to create a happy world. Have a nice day.

Adjusting Christianity As the World Changes - Christian Ideas

Most people seem to go through life doing what others do and never seem to question much about whether the people around them are actually right or wrong. How many of us do exactly what our parents, grandparents and great grandparents do? I was raised a Christian by Christians and they were raised Christians by other Christians and so on. I don't know when or who in my family tree actually decided to become part of the Christian faith. I don't think it really matters today.

Someone had to of made the decision and I will probably never know. I do know this, I have followed Christianity as far as I possibly could and the next step in my life is going to be based somehow on a more spiritually universal world. I can't seem to follow something, that doesn't make sense to me, anymore. Christianity is more or less a religion that people throughout history have made adjustments to, whenever they felt necessary.

This is often like changing a tire on a car as it starts to wear or goes flat. In order for the car to operate and run smoothly we will need to pay a little attention to it, this will require maintenance over time as the car begins to have problems. We have to solve these problems or our car will become useless and will need to be sent to the junkyard.

Religions throughout history have done the same, as the people become more intelligent and less dependent, they need to create new things and make adjustments. If they don't make these adjustments over time, the religion will no longer be necessary and be sent to the junk heap of time. This is what happened to the Greek and Roman gods, what makes you think, that your God or gods will stand the test of time.

Do you think there's going to be any more adjustments to Christianity in the future? It seems like the last adjustments were Scientology and the Mormons or The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. These religions don't exactly follow what Paul started in the Roman Catholic Church. What will the next adjustment be and why will it be necessary?

If you choose to follow Christianity, how do you know which church is right, I mean their core beliefs are right, aren't they. To love your neighbor and be compassionate. To show kindness towards others and help the needy. Do you think that we're going to have to adjust this one day and start treating certain religious followers, whose skin color is deference or speaks a different language with cruelty. I wonder what the next adjustment in Christianity is going to be.

Goal Setting - - Self Help Tips

You're a contractor not a stockbroker so why should you have to deal with goal setting? It seems like a silly buzz word that people in those other non hands on businesses like to throw around. But, goal setting applies to the contractor business just as much as it applies to those other businesses. Without goal setting your business is like a rudderless ship just lurching about from project to project with no clear direction. Any contractor should sit down and have a conversation with themselves about what they would like to achieve and how to go about it.

The contractor business is tough and getting even tougher in this economy. Having a clear agenda on how to deal with the here and now is important. Dealing with the future is even more important. Setting goals may seem like some esoteric thing you read about in self help books, but they really do help especially if you have problems keeping focus, which a lot of people in the contractor business do. It's easy to lose your way when you are running around trying to get projects done on time and on budget. But, if you set up and initial goal setting plan and stick with it you will find your business will run a lot more smoothly and make a lot more money.

If you are a contractor who realizes goal setting should be a priority then you are well on your way to establishing a competitive advantage over others in the contractor business. By setting goals and keeping to them you will establish a winning plan that both you and your customers will notice. The effect of goal setting can be enormous and can make you appear to be more of a professional than you already are.

And, you shouldn't be nervous about starting up a goal setting plan. Start small. Think about what you want to accomplish tomorrow. Write it down and then stick to the plan. After a while you will find yourself setting longer and longer goals for your contractor business and will start to reap the benefits quicker than you ever thought. Goal setting is not just another fluffy buzz word. It is a concept that works. It's all about discipline and like everything it may be hard at first but once you get into the groove you'll wonder how you ever survived without it.

Six Daily Motivation Tips

How do you achieve a more consistent level of daily motivation? Use the following powerful techniques, beginning at the start of your day.

1. Start The Day Motivated

Have a morning motivation routine. Experiment a bit and see what gets you going. If it has to be coffee, then so be it, although there are probably healthier options. One thing that probably doesn't work is hitting the snooze button on the alarm clock. That just trains your brain and body to pay less attention to the alarm. Try cold showers, energizing music, exercise and anything else that might work for you. Once you find a few things that help you get you ready for the day, work them into a regular routine.

2. Have Worthy Goals

If you have nothing to get excited about, find something. Quit your job, move to another town, make a goal that requires work you will enjoy. You have nothing to lose in your life if there is nothing in it that you want to be doing, so start making changes. Start exploring the possibilities to see which ones might inspire you and make you want to get going each day. Then remind yourself of these important or inspirational goals every morning.

3. Use Fear

We are all motivated by both fear and the promise of rewards, but some of us respond better to fear. You can use this to get yourself moving. In fact, you already do if you sometimes lay there in the morning until the thoughts of what will happen if you don't get up make you finally jump out of bed. Just make it more conscious and planned. Imagine the bad things that will happen if you don't do what needs to be done. This is a very basic psychological technique. You link pain with not acting, so you feel a strong urge to get busy working on your goals.

4. Have Daily Motivation Talks

Almost everyone gets excited and experiences a rise in energy levels when talking about something that is truly important and inspiring to them. This could be cars, self improvement, politics, money or just about anything. Find the "hot" topics that get you excited and start a conversation about them as necessary. This works best if the person you are talking to shares your enthusiasm, but try it with anyone who will listen. Afterwards you should be able to carry that energized and motivated state over to the work at hand.

5. Do Something

Though it may seem ironic, I started writing this article without feeling too motivated (I write more than a hundred articles a year). But I knew that if I just wrote a sentence or two, there would be some momentum created. Sure enough, I am writing easily now, and with some enthusiasm. The point: take any small step. Do anything to start the project or task in front of you - any action towards a goal - and you will feel some degree of motivation building within you.

6. Go Beyond Daily Motivation Tricks

Learn how your brain and body works and you can easily apply that knowledge through "tricks" like those here. However, there is also a natural motivation which arises in us when we are living in a balanced and healthy way. You may be skeptical of the idea at first, but when you see clearly enough what needs to be done, the energy is there. Work on that self awareness and honest inquiry into ones nature, and more and more you'll be able to tap into that natural state of seeing the truth and acting. Then you won't need daily motivation "tricks" or tips.

Think About Your Life

Pursuing God at Whose Expense - End of the World Believers

I know a husband and a wife who have been pursuing God with an unbelievable passion, but at the same time they're destroying their family and lifetime friendships. These people can no longer be reasoned with and will only send us information about the end of the world or their passionate religious beliefs. You're probably wondering if there are Hindus or Muslims, maybe they're Hare Krishna's or Buddhists, wrong they are hard-core fundamentalist Christians who don't understand fundamentalism.

Vince Lombardi, the legendary coach for the Green Bay Packers, told his football players, that he was going to start with the fundamentals of football and as he began to hold up a football, he simply made the statement "This Is a Football". I often think of that when having one-sided conversations with extreme religious fanatics. With Christians, I often feel like holding up the Bible and telling them "Let's Start with the Fundamentals, This Is the Holy Bible."

Do you think you would know if you are pursuing God at the expense of your family? How would you know the difference, if you're being supported by people within your religion. These people are constantly telling you, the things that you want to hear. That you're right and others are wrong, don't listen to the wicked or you will become one of them, or the infamous statement of conversion, we must do what we can, when we can to show others the way.

Here's where the problem starts to become a nightmare. These people can't tell the difference between belief and truth anymore. People can be made to believe, anything they choose to believe in. These people are great examples of the last statement. I still am in contact with this family but have watched the destruction from a distance. The children are no longer with the parents and are in foster care, part of the problem is their religious beliefs. A few days ago, we received a video in the mail on the end times. I couldn't make much sense out of this video and like some other Christian videos that I have seen, yet creates fear and biblical prophecy from ordinary daily events.

You can look back through history and the end of the world has been just around the corner for almost 2500 years. People have been preaching the doom and gloom for centuries. I pulled a verse out of the Bible and if you could make sense out of it, I would love to hear how.

Daniel 12:1 The End Times 1 "At that time Michael, the great prince who protects your people, will arise. There will be a time of distress such as has not happened from the beginning of nations until then. But at that time your people-everyone whose name is found written in the book-will be delivered.

It looks like we will know when it's coming, because it states that nothing like it has happened yet. When I read this statement, it doesn't make crystal clear sense and is quite vague. Maybe I'll write another article on how many ways this one verse can be interpreted.

When God Seems Silent - What Do You Do When You Can't Hear God?

It can be hard when God seems silent. What do you do when you can't hear God and He seems far away?

I've experienced days, weeks, and even months when I didn't know what God was saying. Yet although God seemed silent, He was active in my life. God is always at work, it's simply that He doesn't always tell us what He's doing.

When God seems silent, remember that He is faithful, and trust that you will hear Him when the time is right.

How Do You Respond When God Seems Silent?

It's easier to go through things when you know why. But God doesn't always let us in on the why.

What do you do when the enemy tries to tell you lies?...

  • What makes you think that you can hear God?
  • God isn't going to speak to you, you don't deserve it
  • You don't really know God at all
  • God doesn't care about you
  • He's given up on you
  • God isn't real. You've just been making it up
Do you rely on your feelings, or do you trust God's promises? When God seems silent
  • Hold on to what you already know - what's the last thing God said?
  • God could be testing you - what do you really believe?
  • Don't start to doubt what you know
  • Don't compare yourself to other people
  • Beware of making things overcomplicated - faith is childlike
  • Walk by faith, not by sight
God promised that He would never leave you or forsake you. God is always with you. When God seems silent, let Him guide you even in the apparent silence. Remember, and continue to believe that
  • God is guiding you now
  • He's guided you in the past
  • He will guide you in the future
God's silence is an invitation to take your eyes off the circumstance and to look to Jesus who is the author and finisher of your faith. Dare to trust God and draw even closer.

Tuscan Home Decor - The Inside Story

When you're living life on a grade scale, you expect your home to exude that same kind of aura and charisma. Simply put, you deserve nothing but a Tuscan home dcor, with all the trappings of luxurious personal spaces and earthy charm.

Beauty In Signature Italian Style

Here's a dcor that recreates the sheer beauty and warmth of a blissfully idyllic Italian villa set against the backdrop of the pristine landscape. The hallowed monopoly of Italian craftsmanship ensures quality that's an exemplar par excellence. The simply divine amalgam of traditional and modern elements is nothing short of a match made in heaven.

Welcome It With Open Arms

Creating this beautiful and cozy home dcor may seem rather arduous to many. Here's an insight into the essential elements that add to its iconic essence:

  • Stone: Limestone, sandstone and marble, among others, have been catapulted to the rock-star league in this all-natural rustic decorating style. Marble gets top billing on floors, pillars and other details. Terracotta sends your imagination soaring with tiles on the roof.
  • Walls: When it comes to displaying that aged, worn-out look, they are at their formulae best. Stucco, Venetian plaster, color washing and faux painting set the tone perfectly.
  • Flooring: Wood certainly gives marble a run for its rock solid appeal. Cover the wooden flooring with an antique rug, and you could unearth a whole new style statement. Tuscan style vinyl flooring is ideal for those trying to keep their bank account intact
  • Colors: Inspired by the venerable elements of nature, these hues have the inveterate tendency of causing a furor. Copper, golden yellow, ochre, green, blue and red promiscuously flirt with intricate textures resulting in an affair to remember.
  • Lights: Illuminate your home and your dark, caustic existence with wrought iron sconces and chandeliers dripping with mystique.
  • Furniture: The universal appeal of simple wood and wrought iron furniture helps them to carve a niche in this very idyllic setting.
  • Accessories: Embellish this enchanting dcor with Tuscan tapestry, wrought iron vases, candle holders, pot racks, ceramic jars and heirloom quality dinnerware, table linen and drapes.

See, it's really not that hard to infuse the spirit of Tuscany in your home.

iPod Workout Playlist for Exercise Motivation

If youre like most people, you probably have a favorite band, artist or type of music that inspires you to move your body. Its as if some songs become a part of you and next thing you know, youre tapping your feet, drumming your fingers on the table or swaying your head from side to side. Good music makes you want to move. In fact, its almost out of your control. If youre looking for exercise motivation, why not use this phenomenon in your favor. You can easily create your very own, personalized workout playlist.

The beauty of the iPod is the ability to create multiple playlists. Thanks to playlists, you can carry music to fit all your moods and activities in a package smaller than a cassette tape (anyone remember those?) Not only that, you can access each playlist individually so you can find a mood and stick with it as long as you want.

That said, lets start creating your iPod workout playlist. I wont go into every minute detail of creating a playlist here, thats a whole other article. You can easily find workout playlist information by going to Google, and typing in workout playlist.

Once youre ready, make a playlist. Call it workout or any other name that suits your style. Make it a goal to select at least 20 songs either currently in your music library or at the iTunes music store. Find songs that make you want to tap your feet and shake your hips. Look specifically for music that pumps you up, motivates you and makes you want to move your body.

Of course we all have different musical tastes so theres no right or wrong genre or type of song to put on the playlist. In fact, I currently have 70s funk, 80s punk, hip hop, rap, electronica and drum and bass on my list. The main criterion for songs on your list is that they all motivate you to move your body. Here are a couple of points to consider when choosing the songs:

1. Listen for a Consistent Beat - Make sure the songs have a steady beat throughout the entire track. Songs that have a fast beat then a slow beat then a fast beat again might cause you to get out of rhythm. This can become discouraging rather than motivating. The BPM (Beats Per Minute) on your tracks should also be somewhat consistent. This will help you maintain momentum. If you dont follow this guideline, its okay. When a song comes up thats too slow or fast for the pace youre at you can always forward to the next song.

2. Listen for Positive, Inspiring Lyrics - Choose songs with lyrics that inspire you or make you feel positive. If the song is about negative events or troubled times, it might slow you down. Choose songs that make you feel like I can do this, I wont quit, This feels great, I am alive! With songs like this, youll be so motivated by the music that you might even forget youre exercising.

Keep in mind that if you have more songs in your music library than your iPod can hold, youll need to specify in your iPod options that you want your workout playlist to be on your iPod at all times. When your iPod is connected to the computer and iTunes is open, simply right-click on the picture of your iPod and choose iPod Options. In the iPod / Music tab youll have the opportunity to pick and choose which playlists to have on your iPod.

Once you complete these steps, youll have workout motivation that you can keep with you at all times. Therefore, regardless of your travel schedule, traffic hang ups, late nights at the office or unforeseen interruptions, you can put on some comfy shoes, turn on your workout playlist and start moving. In fact, since the iPod is so portable, you might want to mix up your workout by dancing in your living room or going outdoors for a walk or a bike ride. Take various routes around your neighborhood and explore new ground. Get inspired by your neighbors landscaping or say hi to local business people just to keep things interesting. The possibilities are endless.

Chasing Your Dreams!

Friends, it is always a power of your dreams and a motive to move ahead, which is required to move ahead and to be successful in life. Does it sound, impractical; let me share with you, something practical and real.

Some real time facts:

1.Out of the first four stores F. W. Woolworth opened, three failed. When he died, he was worth more than $20 million.

2.Einstein was 4 years old before he could speak.

3.Isaac Newton did poorly in grade school and was considered "unpromising".

4.Beethoven's music teacher once said of him, "As a composer, he is hopeless".

5.Michael Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team.

6.Walt Disney was fired from a newspaper because he "lacked imagination, and had no good ideas".

7.Thomas Edison's teacher told him he was too stupid to learn anything. Later, he tried 1,600 different materials before settling on carbon as the filament for the electric light bulb.

Some Themes

1) Victory Against Cancer

In October of 1996, Lance Armstrong, Americas greatest cyclist, received the news. He was hero both in USA and in other Countries. He was called the Golden Boy of American Cycling, and felt like nothing could stop him.

Something did. He was unable to finish a race in 1996 due to excruciating pain. He was rushed to hospital to find the cause.

THE NEWS
~
That month Lance underwent several tests, and the diagnosis was testicular cancer. The cancer had spread to his lungs and his brain. After undergoing three immediate surgeries, his chances for recovery were 50/50. The man, who had everything, was now hoping to have one thing, LIFE.

OVERCOMING OBSTACLES

With the support of his family and friends, and his unstoppable attitude, Armstrong started to improve. The chemotherapy started to work and he started to once again think about racing. Some thought he was crazy. He was battling cancer, how could he think about ever racing again.

TAKING ACTION

He did more than just thinking about it. He did it. Armstrong began training only five months after his diagnosis. He did not feel cursed, but lucky. He was given a new viewpoint on life. Armstrong realized how lucky of a man he really was.

Now that he beat cancer, Lance Armstrong took on the next biggest challenge, the Tour de Frances. Not only did he race well, he won.

Some were unsure if could survive cancer. He did. Some were unsure if he could train again. He did. Few thought he could win again. He did.

2) Amitabh Bhachan

Background: Born in the family of a schoolteacher. After his graduation, he joined some bank and started working there as a Clerk. Always wanted to be in entertainment industry (Radio, Television, Movies, Advertising etc) but was not aware of means and modes to enter into it.

Struggle: He left his job and moved to Mumbai (We all call this city as City of Dreams). Appeared for a Voice Test in All India Radio but got rejected. He was informed that His voice is not soft and smooth something that people like to listen to. He continued with his strugglefor months and years. No production house was willing to sign him. No actress was willing to work with him. Got few movies but all flopped. Rejected and dejected he was all set to leave that city. Believe mehe was at railway stationboarding on the train on his way back to his hometown and there he met one producerwho immediately signed him for his next venturethat movie was super hit and hence, Amitabh Bhachanbecome an overnight success.

Struggle Continued: Though he becomes a Super Star but that was not an end of his struggle. In 1981he met with a fatal accident and he struggled with his deathfor his lifefor more than two weeks. There were other few small incidents he facedthat I can ignore at this point of time.

Last Struggle: Then, came 1996and he organized Miss World Contest in India. Show was goodbut he become bankrupt. No body was willing to get associated with him. People started considering him as a lost forcean old horsepeople thought that it is an end of his career. That was the time when for him each new day was worse than the previous one.

And Now: In 2000he bounced backprobably with more energymore passion and more dedication. As per the BBC ratingsin 2000they declared him as the Best Actor of the Centuryabove the likes of Jim CarreyCharlie Chaplin. Now, his voice is the one that everyone likes to listen to. Today, at 64he is one of the busiest actorsthat we have. He repaid all his debts and today he is worth of 50 Million USD.

His Motto: Believe in yourself and things will work for you.
His Strengths: Dont give-up, High Determination, Very Hardworking, Humble, a great learner and have passion for work.

3) The Dream Behind Wendys

As a young boy, Dave Thomas didnt have the easiest childhood. He was an adopted child, and was never able to meet his birth parents. The relationship he had with his adoptive father was difficult to say the least. This didnt stop the young Dave Thomas from dreaming. At the age of eight, he dreamed that one-day he would own the best restaurant in the world. Despite his surroundings, Dave Thomas had a dream, and knew it would be realized, someday.

PERSISTENCE

Through hard work and persistence, this young boy learned much about the restaurant business by working in them at a very young age. He was passionate about his goal, and worked diligently to assure its attainment. As opportunities presented themselves, Mr. Thomas jumped. He was able to start his own restaurant and take a giant step closer to his dream and that was the foundation of Wendys chain of Restaurants. This did not, how ever, come to him on a silver platter.

TAKING RISKS

Dave Thomas invested everything he had into the first Wendys restaurant, not knowing whether or not it would be successful. He could have lost it all, but that didnt stop him.

A DREAM REALIZED

Today, Wendys is a $3.5 billion dollar company, and Dave Thomas is a man who had a dream, and did everything possible to make it come true. A boy with a dream is a powerful thing. Add to this equation persistence and passion, and you have an unstoppable force.

4) They Said It Couldnt Be Done

They said it couldnt be done. Many scientists also agreed that it was physically impossible. No one could ever run the mile in less than four minutes. No one ever has, they said, and no one ever will. Roger Bannister must have been absent that day in class, because on May 6, 1954, he ran the mile in 3 minutes, 59.4 seconds.

This feat ended the worlds nine-year quest for the four-minute mile. After Bannisters sub four-minute mile, others also added their names to the list.

Once someone proved they could accomplish the impossible, others found they could also. Could this be happening today? Many people today can tell you this or that will never be done. They may even tell that your dream is impossible.

Roger Bannister proved them all wrong, and so can you.

5) Sonia Gandhi

Background: Born in Italy. Got married into the Indias Most Powerful FamilyThe Gandhis. She was never interested in politics. All she wanted was peaceful lifeaway from the glare of media and power. Probably, that is the reason that for most of the time, she used to stay out of Indiawith her family.

Destiny: But her destiny had something different in store for her. In 1984 her mother-in-law Late Prime Minister Mrs. Indira Gandhi got assassinatedfollowed by the assassination of her husband Late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in 1991. Her dreams crashedright in front of her. She had choicesto move out the countryor to stay out of Power Game.

New Dream: Till 1999, she stayed in self-imposed exile. And then joined CongressIndias Oldest Political Party. That time this party was not into powerthey were sitting in opposition. She saw a dream to get her partyback into the power. But it was not easy. Her own party members had doubt on her credibility. The opposition went on to call her as BitchDumb DollAnti NationalA woman who is planning to sell this country they were not ready to accept herand what not.

Reaching the Goal: In 2004she single handedly won General Elections for her party. And she was unanimously elected as the leader of the party and hence Prime Minister of the Country. But the opposition was planning all India stir, saying that they will not let an Outsider to become the Prime Minister of the country. Hence, she sacrificed her post and decided not to become the Prime Minister and nominated Dr. Man Mohan Singh for the post of Prime Minister. As per the list announced by Forbes last Week, Sonia Gandhi is worlds 13th Most powerful Woman.

Her Motto: Dont give any chance to others to point their fingers at you

Her Strength: Approachable, Connectivity with people at lower level, A great strategist and planner.

6) Successful people do it in spite of, and not in absence of, problems.

FACTS

Wilma Rudolph was born into a poor home in Tennessee. At age four, she had double pneumonia with scarlet fever, a deadly combination, which left her paralyzed with polio. She had to wear a brace and the doctor said she would never put her foot on the earth.

DREAM

But her mother encouraged her; she told Wilma that with God-given ability, persistence and faith she could do anything she wanted. Wilma said, I want to be the fastest women on the track on this earth. At the age of nine, against the advice of doctors, she removed the brace and took the first step the doctors had said she never would. At the age of 13, she entered her first race and came way, way last. And then she entered her second, and third and fourth and came way, way last until a day came when she came in first.

HARD WORK

At the age of 15 she went to Tennessee State University where she met coach by name Ed Temple. She told him, I want to be the fastest women on the track on this earth. Temple said, with your spirit nobody can stop you and besides, I will help you.

REALIZATION OF DREAM

The day came when she was at the Olympics and at the Olympics you are matched with the best of the best. Wilma was matched against a woman named Jutta Heine who had never been beaten.

The first event was the 100 meter race. Wilma beat Jutta Heine and won her first gold medal.

The second event was the 200-meter race and Wilma beat Jutta a second time and won her second gold medal.

ALWAYS KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE GOAL

The third event was the 400-meter relay and she was racing against Jutta one more time. In the relay, the fastest person always runs the last lap and they both anchored their teams. The first three people ran and changed the baton easily. When it came to Wilmas turn, she dropped the baton. But Wilma saw Jutta shoot up at the other end; she picked the baton, ran like a machine, beat Jutta a third time and won her third gold medal. It became history: that paralytic women become the fastest women on the earth at the 1960 Rome Olympics.

This story teaches us that successful people do it in spite of, not in absence of, problems.

Conclusion

At the beginning, everything appears to be impossible, but those who are dare enough and bold enough to take that first step, they have done well in their career as well as in life. It is very easy to put blame on external factors. I can only say, life your life, as if it is your last day and work or do things, in a manner as if the whole world is watching you.

I will be looking forward to your comments and feedback.

Have a great time and a fantastic week ahead and yes, pleaseee, pleaseees do take care of your good self.

If you do not know who you are, you will fail. Having a success mindset will position you to achieve unlimited success.

Here are but a few things you can do to reinforce your success mindset:

1. Take a survey of your strengths and make them stronger.

2. Likewise, take a survey of your weaknesses and strengthen them.

3. Read books about successful people and you will soon discover they were not an overnight success, embrace their bestqualities.

4. Focus more on what you want to become and never look back, no matter what.

5. Once you determine the lofty goal you want to achieve, never allow anything to stop you.

6. Surround yourself with like-minded people, they can teach you a lot about overcoming obstacles because they have overcome them.

7. Share your success mindset secrets with others, this is the true measure of your success.

One of the main reasons why people do not achieve their goal in life is because their doubts become the focus, rather than their belief in themselves. A picture is worth a thousand words and when you decide to focus your goal, you will achieve it.

Some of you may remember the first time you learned how to ride a bike. You were excited and told your parents you wanted a bike for Christmas or for your birthday.

After you received yourbike, you realizedyou did not know how to ride it. What did you do at this stage of the process?

Like everything else in life, you had to learn how to ride your bike. You paddled a little bit, then you fell. You got back up, paddled a bit more and you fell again.

Over time you learned how to ride your bike and then you were good at it. The reason you were eventually able to properly ride your bike is because you started to believe in yourself and you would not allow anything to stop you.

The same holds true for developing a strong successful mindset. You must set a goal, work to accomplish and reach the goal and not allow anything to get in your way.

The end result is, a success mindset will position you to become successful. I believe in you, now you must believe in yourself.

How Can Frustration and Dissatisfaction Cause You to Leap Into Inspired Action?

There is much talk about using the law of attraction and the benefits of using powerful passionate positive emotion. Esther Hicks, Joe Vitale, and Normant Vincent PealeXX all speak about the benefits of feeling good and the use of positive thinking. Is there any benefit or gain in the power of feeling bad or negative thinking?

No matter how much positive or negative thinking or imagining is done,at some point or another, there is going to have to be some kind of action in occurrence for anything to happen.

"Nothing happens until something moves"- Albert Einstein.

Sometimes our biggest challenge lay not in thinking positive or focusing on what must be done but instead onputting our positive thoughts into action. Most likely we all know what we have to do. If we want better health, or wealth or relationships we have to do the actions we know are necessary to bring forth those changes. We, for the most part, know what we have to do, the challenge is that we just don't do enough of those things.

One way to get yourself into action is to increase your dissatisfaction with your present position.

For instance, lets say a person wants to be healthier. They know they're supposed to work out more and eatproperly however, despite all their intellect as to whats to be done, they still continue to stay off the path of health. What a person can do is to work themselves up into a negative state by becoming disgusted and angry with their poor health habits. As they look at their body they could get themselves so negatively worked up that they leap from the couch, put on their sneakers and go outside for a quick run.

You may have had similar experiences in your own life. Perhaps you were procrastinating on a task for so long that you just got so upset with yourself that you decided that enough is enough and before you knew it, you were gnashing your teeth with bulldog determination to take the appropriate actions.

"Dissatisfaction is a gem"- Tony Robbins.

Most people will do more to avoid pain than to gain pleasure.

Zap your procrastination by using negative mental prodding to get yourself to take positive action.

Be Glad the Hard Times Are Upon Us!

If you ever had a hard-driving athletic coach, these and other phrases will probably bring back memories and might even summon his screaming face back into view:

"When the going gets tough, the tough get going!"

"Show me someone who loses and laughs, and I'll show you a loser!"

Vince Lombardi, legendary Green Bay Packers coach, said there's something in "good men" that loves a struggle. You're being beaten up on the playing field, bruised and bloodied, but you give the game all you have, exhausted as it ends, but you WIN!

Or, you may have heard it this way: "Winning isn't everything; It's the ONLY thing!"

I summon these quotes because they're designed to have what psychologists refer to as, "sleeper" effects. Like messages in bottles, they're cast across our consciousness from the land of our youth, and they're intended to wash up and be read some time later, on a distant shore of adulthood.

We might have goofed about them privately, outside of earshot of our coaches. But if these proclamations didn't rouse us and help us to perform in the games at hand, that grouchy leader with the whistle or clipboard knew these admonitions wouldn't be forgotten, completely.

Some day, circumstances would arrange themselves so we would feel deeply dejected, helpless and hopeless before seemingly overwhelming odds, and a small voice would echo in our mind:

"Winners never quit and quitters never win!"

And like Rocky Balboa, we'd struggle to our feet and miraculously knock out anything or anyone standing in our way.

Well, looking at our economy and world events, it seems like a fine time to deliberately awaken these sleeper messages, and to put them to work.

If you have ever played sports or striven in any competitive environment, you already have what it takes to respond to adversity. Recall all of the steps you took to achieve in those arenas.

Remember as well, the self-doubts you overcame. Because now, we have a chance to prove, yet again, what we're made of, who we are, and what we can do when we want to, and need to.

Someday, when these difficulties are overcome, you'll look back and realize times were hard, "But YOU DID IT HARD," as motivational speaker Les Brown would say.

Essential Oils - Frankincense - A Holy Fragrance to Heal Us This Christmas Season

For thousands of years, the fragrance of frankincense has been used to lift up our minds and hearts to spiritual things. It was considered a fragrance fit for a king and thus was one of the gifts given by the Magi to the Christ child. It has been used in churches of many denominations especially at Christmas tide to remind us of God's love for all people. But are you aware that frankincense is one of those rare essential oils that is healing for just about everything that might ail you?

Frankincense (Boswelia carteri) is obtained through steam distillation of the resins from the frankincense trees. They grow along the coastal areas of Saudia Arabia, Oman, Yemon, Ethiopia and even in Kenya. These are ancient trees that only put out a few leaves if there is moisture in the air. Slits are made with a sharp knife into the bark of the tree and it oozes out its life blood to harden in the desert air. These resins are later collected and can either be beaten into a fine dust for incense or distilled for the oil. In ancient times, anyone caught with "female" frankincense resins (the higher quality as denoted by their color) might have their hand chopped off. These resins were reserved for the kings and their families. Every year, the various countries would send representatives to purchase so many tons of resins to be used at court and in their cities' celebrations.

The Secrets About Frankincense

Have you ever wondered why the ancient peoples regarded this oil so much? They had tapped into many of the secrets of how this tree can heal. For instance, it is high in terpenes which means it goes beyond the blood brain barrier and helps stimulate the limbic system of the brain and the hypothalamus, pineal and pituitary glands. Why is that important? Because it can be used to treat cancer, tumors, depression, headaches, and brain damage. In addition, frankincense has been known to help allergies, bronchitis, herpes, tonsillitis, typhoid, warts, and it can stimulate the body's production of white blood cells. It is a strong antiviral, antioxidant, antifungal, antibacterial, antiseptic and expectorant oil. Frankincense is considered a general cure-all or universal healing oil. It has the ability to relax and revitalize at the same time. Now can any of your drugs do that?

But What About Its Spiritual Qualities?

Frankincense increases spiritual awareness and promotes meditation. It may also help improve attitude and uplift spirits which may help to strengthen the immune system and decrease depression. It has the "old church" smell to it that is very pleasing to the senses.

Of Gods and Humans

Persons who say that they do not believe in God mean that they do not believe in their understanding or definition of God. If someone were to define God as a holy man that lives in his locality, then obviously for him, God does exist. However, that is not what most people understand by God. The understanding of what God implies varies from one person to another.

In another article, this author defined God as everything that exists - that includes everything that we can perceive in the universe as well as everything that we cannot perceive. Scientists have speculated the presence of dark matter and dark energy in the universe. There can be much more that they have not even thought of yet in the universe and beyond. If God is defined as everything that exists, then there is no question in not believing in God. God then exists as surely as we all do. Differences will however arise in our views about the powers of God. Some regard the universe as dead matter with no intelligence of its own. In their view, living entities or perhaps computer like machines can possess intelligence but not any part of the universe or the universe as a whole. Others may believe that the universe as a whole also possesses life with its own intelligence and consciousness and that our own individual consciousness is only a small part of this Infinite Universal Consciousness. This author is an adherent of this latter view.

Our universe is inhabited by a variety of life forms. Some believe that life exists on earth only. That is not a reasonable view. Not only is that unlikely it is also impossible. Whether God or a universal natural process has created life, it may be created in the same manner elsewhere in the universe as well. Our sun is just one of the innumerable stars that populate the universe. Life must exist elsewhere in the universe if it can exist on our planet. There is nothing spectacularly unique about our planet dictating that life can exist on earth only.

Different life forms display different degrees of evolution. Even within a given species there are differences in the levels of evolution between varieties and individuals. At the present time, humans appear to be the most evolved of the various species that exist on earth. However human life is by no means the limit of evolution. In the past, when humanoid apes were the most evolved of species on earth, they probably presumed themselves to be the most evolved of beings in the universe (provided they were capable of thinking) just as most humans think of themselves at the present time. Life is encumbered with a bloated ego that leads humans to erroneous beliefs such as - life exists only on my planet, I am the most evolved person, my race is the most evolved, science knows everything, present day doctors know everything about curing disease (some persons believed that even a thousand years ago), my planet is at the center of the universe and life may exist only here, etc.

In the opinion of this author, human life is not the limit of evolution. It will continue to evolve and other beings already exist in other parts of the universe that are far more evolved. We may regard these latter beings as gods and goddesses since to the human mind a god is a being that is far more evolved than a human. It is a different matter that we do not run into gods and goddesses at the corner store every now and then. The universal intelligence, for a good reason, has sets the stars so far apart that travel between planets is no easy matter. The large distances between stars prevent a confirmation of such evolved beings through present day science. However lack of confirmation is not a proof of absence. It is only recently that science has been able to confirm the presence of other planets around stars. The presence of life on such planets is a far more detailed matter. In that direction we have presently gone only as far as another nearby planet in our solar system -Mars.

Amongst humans there are differences in the degree of evolution between communities and also between individuals within communities. One may regard the most evolved humans as god-like because of their enhanced abilities. However, we have to turn our attention towards the heavens if we wish to detect true gods and goddesses. Although physical travel is near impossible between inhabited planets, telepathic or psychic travel need not be so. Science knows little about this latter form of travel at the present time. It may be something that will be discovered in future. However mystics exist, who claim to have traveled to other planets psychically. An ordinary human being too may experience some such travel for brief periods under the influence of certain drugs.

A second method of travel from one planet to another is through the journey of a soul rather than a physical body. Those who believe in reincarnation believe that a soul may acquire new bodies after death. Such a birth may take place on a more evolved planet provided a soul has evolved beyond the general level of evolution on earth. Such planets are called heaven in spiritual literature. The reverse i.e. a birth in hell or a hellish planet is also possible provided one's deeds dictate that. Anything worse than the worst parts of earth must indeed be a terrible place because even here on earth we have instances of hunger, mal-nutrition, violence, filth and every other conceivable form of human misery.

Ordinarily, most humans do not recall anything of the birth of their souls in previous lives. However there are evolved mystics who claim that they can recall their previous lives. Since the soul is not a physical thing restricted by physical laws, it should be possible for souls to take birth on other planets in the universe. The most evolved of souls may even do this by design. It is likely that persons like Jesus Christ who took birth on this planet by conscious design for a spiritual mission are souls from other evolved planets. Jesus said so in as many words even though different churches interpret his words differently. Many Hindus also believe in divine personalities or gods that take birth on earth from time to time in order to help its inhabitants in their evolutionary journey. They are known as Avatars in Hinduism. A second method that gods can use to bring about changes on earth is to seed the minds of humans with new ideas. The sudden appearance of scientific discoveries on our planet over a couple of centuries may be the result of such an occurrence.

The purpose of life appears to be a relentless journey of evolving into better life forms. Such an evolution takes place through the experiences and knowledge gained over millions of births. Normally, we do not recall the details of earlier births, but the knowledge gained through various lives shapes our habits, inclinations and intelligence. There may be temporary setbacks in the evolutionary process where souls fall to lower levels of evolution. The general trend however appears to be a journey forward. The reason for this is that all beings desire happiness. True and lasting happiness lies in developing the appropriate virtues. If some individuals temporarily adopt wrong methods for gaining happiness, their happiness is short lived. They eventually learn through suffering and correct their ways sooner or later, in this life or the next. That appears to be the purpose of suffering. It is a correctional mechanism that leads beings to improve themselves. The Universal intelligence is a benevolent and loving one.

It may take a human millions of years before he or she can evolve to a god-like species. However, because humans are capable of intelligent behavior, some individuals may hasten their evolutionary process through certain practices. Present day humans usually characterize these latter practices as spiritual processes since spirituality is concerned with improving the quality of life and since the claims of spiritualists largely fall outside the realm of present day science. That is not to say that some of the so-called religious or spiritual claims are not erroneous or fraudulent. However, not all of human spiritual knowledge is erroneous.

One mark of evolution of a being is the desire to serve others as opposed to serving one's own needs. The basis of this desire is an understanding that one's own welfare is best enhanced by the welfare of others. Animals do not think of philanthropy in any substantial manner. Some rudiments of philanthropy may be detected in animal herds that try to protect individual members from an external attack. However many humans do spend varying amounts of time and energy on serving nature, wild life or society. The very process of serving others assists a life form in evolving further. Contrary to this, selfish behavior usually leads to regressing into less developed states.

In spiritual literature or visionary descriptions gods and angels are shown as beings that are usually engaged in some form of service. In eastern scriptures, the foremost of the gods are said to play leading roles in the creation of life. That should not be difficult to conceive if we note that even modern humans have begun creating new life forms through genetic manipulation. Once a new gene is created it becomes available not just on our planet but elsewhere in the universe as well. The mechanism for this genetic transfer is rather involved. It is has been discussed in detail by this author in a blog entitled ' How Humans were created on Earth' mentioned at the end of this article.

A characteristic of evolved beings appears to be their enhanced ability to bring about change. It is the most evolved who effect the greatest change even amongst humans. Indeed it appears to be a wise strategy on the part of the Universal Intelligence to grant the most powers to beings that are capable of using that power responsibly. Imagine what would have happened if monkeys had learnt how to build nuclear bombs. They may have destroyed much of earth by now.

Service or philanthropic activity does not imply an irrational sacrifice of one's own peace of mind, health or life style. If one were to do that then one would loose the capability to do good. Thus evolved beings usually lead a comfortable life-style even though it may not be an ostentatious one. Many eastern spiritual monasteries exist in some of the most beautiful locations in the Himalayas where both the air and water are amongst the purest anywhere on earth. It is true that at these remote locations many of the sensory pleasures most humans cares for are missing. However, the evolved spiritualists who inhabit these monasteries are souls that have outgrown the sensory pleasures that an average human craves for. Instead, they have the things that matter most - fresh air, sunshine, pure water, natural beauty, security, peace, freedom and loving company.

In some cases we note that powerful evolved beings have taken to a path of evil and destruction rather than doing good. We have the example of Hitler in recent history. The reason for this anomaly is that although one becomes more powerful through good deeds and service, the freedom to choose one's direction is retained at all times. Thus even an angel may choose to take to the path of evil. However this activity would not last forever since evil leads to a rapid fall in the level of evolution of a being as well as the enhanced powers associated with higher levels of evolution. It is because of this reasoning that in spiritual literature Satan is visualized as a fallen angel who eventually gets bound or thrown into a bottomless pit. That is where the soul of Hitler probably lies now. In the view of this author there is not just one Satan in the universe. There are many. Humans that rely on violence, hatred and lying are the followers of such satanic virtues. Truth is the handmaiden of Love. This is because non-loving activities must rely on the use of lies for their execution or concealment. Love needs no such device. Those who base their actions on love and truth as well as service are surely on the fast track to greater levels pf peace, happiness, freedom and evolution - a path to godhood.
